Decker has a paid Tuition & Related Expenses Reimbursement Program for Diesel Mechanic students! Let Decker help you achieve your future career goals! The purpose of the Tuition Reimbursement Program is to provide work experience and a competitive income for students majoring in the Diesel Technology Program.
Diesel Mechanic Tuition Reimbursement Program Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be employed by Decker while in school.
- Minimum of 18 years of age.
- 1st or 2nd year students enrolled to attend a Diesel Technology Program in Iowa. Incoming students welcome.
- Must maintain a GPA of 2.5 or above to remain eligible.
- Must meet or exceed Decker employee expectations.
Diesel Mechanic Tuition Reimbursement Program Employment:
- Completion of classes and a good education are essential goals of the program – students should not work excessive hours negatively affecting their ability to complete the educational program.
- Students must work a minimum of 24 hours per week during the school year. Additional hours are available when classes are not in session.
- A 2 year commitment to Decker is required after the completion of the Diesel Technology Program.
- Loaner tools are available for use at Decker while in school.
- Uniforms are provided.
Diesel Mechanic Tuition Reimbursement:
- Employees or students interested in the Tuition Reimbursement Program must apply for the program.
- Once approved they must provide a course list along with proof of enrollment.
- After the semester tuition costs are received by the student/employee, a receipt/invoice will be provided to Decker’s Human Resources Department for review.
- The student/employee will be eligible for a $3000.00 reimbursement per semester for four semesters; total reimbursement to equal $12,000.00
- The Reimbursement from Decker covers tuition, fees, books, tools or room and board; anything the student/employee needs to use it for in their degree completion.
Diesel Mechanic Tuition Reimbursement Program Disqualifications:
- The student/employee is required to provide their official transcript within 15 days of the completion of the semester. The transcript is to provide their GPA and completion confirmation of all assigned courses for the semester. If the GPA is less than 2.5 the student/employee will not be eligible for reimbursement the next semester and will have to repay the $3000.00 for that semester.
- Unsatisfactory work performance and termination of employment could disqualify the student/employee from reimbursement.
- Tuition Reimbursement Commitment and Repayment:
- A 2 year commitment to Decker is required after the completion of the Diesel Technology Program.
- In the event an employee who is actively participating in program is terminated or resigns prior to fulfilling the 2 year employment commitment, repayment to Decker is required as a condition of the program.
- This amount will be prorated by the total amount of the tuition divided by the months left in the employment commitment. Any remaining amount is required to be paid back to Decker. If applicable, this amount may be deducted from the employee’s final paycheck. Example: Tuition Reimbursement of $12,000.00 divided by the commitment time of 24 months = $500.00 per month. Time left in commitment: 12 months. Amount to be paid back to Decker = $6000.00

- Tractor or trailer maintenance and repair on a private and newer fleet: With a late model professional-grade Reefer/Van and Flatbed fleet comprised of approximately 800 Peterbilt, Volvo and Freightliner Tractors with cutting-edge technology and 1600 Trailers we have ample installation, maintenance and repair opportunities.
- Valid Drivers License Required.
- The successful candidate is subject to a pre-employment background check and post-job offer physical and drug screen.
