Job Summary: As a Diesel Mechanic, you will utilize your extensive knowledge and experience gained during your military service to diagnose, repair, and maintain diesel engines and related systems. Your technical proficiency, attention to detail, and commitment to quality workmanship will ensure the reliability and optimal performance of diesel-powered vehicles and equipment. This position is open to veterans with experience in diesel mechanics or related fields.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in diesel engines and related systems, including fuel systems, exhaust systems, cooling systems, transmissions, and braking systems.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and fluid checks, to ensure the proper functioning and longevity of diesel engines.
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve issues efficiently, following established repair procedures and safety protocols.
- Conduct comprehensive inspections and diagnostic tests to identify potential problems and provide accurate cost estimates for repairs.
- Repair or replace defective components using appropriate tools, equipment, and quality parts.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs, including service reports, parts used, and time spent on each job.
- Collaborate with other team members and provide guidance and support, particularly to less experienced technicians, to enhance the overall skill level of the team.
- Stay updated on the latest advancements in diesel engine technology through continuous learning and training opportunities.
- Foster a clean and organized work environment, ensuring all tools and equipment are properly maintained and stored.
- Adhere to safety protocols and comply with industry standards and regulations to ensure a safe working environment.
Requirements:
- Military veteran with experience in diesel mechanics or related fields.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engine systems, acquired through military training and experience.
- Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engine issues, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic problems.
- Familiarity with a wide range of diesel engines, including various manufacturers and models.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment and tools to identify and resolve issues efficiently.
- Solid understanding of repair procedures, safety protocols, and compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a demonstrated ability to diagnose complex issues.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
- Experience with heavy-duty trucks and equipment is preferred.
