The Idaho Division of Veterans Services (IDVS) is recruiting for a full-time Dietary Aide Sr. opening at the State Veterans Home in Post Falls.

Employees in the Dietary Department typically rotate shift work, which includes evenings, weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities:
1.Food preparation: Prepares salads, fresh vegetables and fruit, beverages, snacks, juice, salad dressings, and similar items for regular and modified diets. Cleans, cuts, chops, dices, slices, and purees foods. Opens food containers and drains fruits and vegetables. Slices and portions breads, cakes and pies, makes toast. Operates food processor, mixer, coffee makers, can opener and other appliances. Breaks and mixes eggs. Makes sandwiches and assists cooks in preparation of specialized foods.
2.Food serving and area preparation: Turns on and adjusts steam tables and refrigerated units. Sets up dining areas with seating, tableware, condiment containers, napkin holders, and jelly holders. Sets up salad bar follows posted menu and serving schedules. Portions salads, desserts, fruits, and other items on serving line. Weighs and measures foods for special diets. Loads and unloads food carriers. Fills food orders for living units. Arranges food, beverages, and dishes for serving. Stocks kitchen storage areas and staple bins. Delivers food to units. Read and interpret dietary cards.
3.Cleaning and sanitation: Sweeps and mops floors. Scrubs walls and windows. Cleans steam and eating tables, food carriers, trays, and chairs. Defrosts refrigerators. Cleans walk-ins, storage areas, utensils, and equipment. Operates commercial dishwasher. Monitors temperature levels in dishwasher by checking gauges or using thermometers. Monitors pH balance in dishwasher using chemical test strips. Disassembles dishwasher and cleans room when finished. Hand washes dishes when necessary.
Minimum Qualifications:
Good knowledge of:
- Sanitation and safety practices used in food handling Equipment and devices (appliances) used in food preparation.
Experience:
- Operating and cleaning kitchen equipment
- Cleaning and sanitizing kitchen areas
Clearance:
The Idaho Division of Veterans Services requires applicants to pass a criminal history background investigation after a conditional offer of employment.
