Summary
Responsible for assisting cook and dietary manager in the preparation of appealing and nutritious meals and snacks for residents, employees and visitors. Responsible for set-up and cleaning of dining room and kitchen. Responsible for serving meals and snacks to residents and guests in a courteous and efficient manner following dietary protocol.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs all dining services following established schedules and protocol.
- Sets up assigned area/tables for meal service.
- Serves residents and guests as quickly as possible using proper serving techniques.
- Assist residents with meal selection and eating as needed.
- Clears tables in an efficient manner and re-sets tables accurately.
- Operate kitchen equipment following dietary protocol and safe techniques/precautions.
- Properly cleans and sanitizes equipment and work area.
- Assist residents in and out of dining room as needed.
- Push steam table to memory care as needed.
- Collects and stacks dirty dishes on cart and returns cart to kitchen.
- Washes dishes and cleans work areas, tables, cabinets, etc.
- Collects and places garbage and trash in designated containers.
- Stocks work stations with needed supplies.
- Mop dining room floor as assigned.
- Report any needed repairs immediately to supervisor or dietary manager.
- Must be compassionate and patient when serving residents and guests.
- Ability to bend, stoop, lift up to 50 pounds, stir and move intermittently throughout the day as well as stand most of the working day.
- Must be able to work weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Education and/or Experience
- Previous dietary experience preferred.
- Must be able to demonstrate (after training) the correct use of dietary equipment and food preparation.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, write and speak English; ability to take and understand verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to communicate well with an elderly population.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to apply common sense in understanding and carrying out instructions.
