About the Job
Responsibilities:
- Works under general supervision in preparing, seasoning, and cooking soups, meats, vegetables, and desserts for consumption by patients, visitors, employees, and special functions.
- Measures and mixes ingredients according to recipes or other instructions using a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment.
- Adds seasoning to food during mixing or cooking according to specific recipes.
- Adheres to local, state, federal, and other regulatory agency standards, codes, and laws.
- Work requires the ability to read and record information well enough to follow recipes and departmental instructions as well as a knowledge of arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and
calculating percentages) in measurement of various foods. - This level of education is normally acquired after completion of a high school education.
- Work requires a knowledge of basic principles of quality food preparation and procedures which is normally obtained after one-year experience in food service or cafeteria.
