Dietary Cook - Part Time - Brookwood Gardens Nursing and Rehabilitation Center

Position Purpose: Prepares and serves nourishing and attractive meals and other foods as required to support the menu specific to diet orders and other center events.

Qualifications:

·       Highschooldiploma,preferred.Abilitytoread,writeanddomathneededforrecipesrequired.

·       Two years as Cook in a large-scale cooking operation preferred.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

•       UsesStandardPrecautionsasoutlinedinpoliciesandprocedures.

•       Followsestablishedsafetypoliciesandprocedures.

•       Observessafetyneedsofpatientsasindicatedincareplan.

•       Wearsand/orusessafetyequipmentandsupplieswhenindicatedandproperlytrainedtouse.

•       Operates,cleansandstoreskitchenequipmentinasafemanner.

•       IdentifieslocationofMSDSforchemicalsused.Isfamiliarwitheyewash stations.

•       Reviewsmenus,patientcensusinformation,productionguidesandpre-prepsheetstodeterminetypeand quantities of food to be prepared.

•       Preparesmealitemsaccordingtoplannedmenusandstandardizedrecipes;referstofoodservicedirectoror dietitian the need for menu changes.

•       Preparesfoodaccordingtosafefoodhandlingguidelines.

•       Preparesfoodinatimelymannertopreservefoodqualityandservesmealon time.

•       Operatesavarietyofkitchenutensilsandequipmentsuchasblenders,mixer,foodslicer,steamer,food processor, convention oven, range and tilt skillet.

•       Preparesconsistencymodifiedanddietfoodsappropriately.

•       Bakes,roasts,broils,andsteamsfooditemstoprepareforconsumption.

•       Promotescustomerserviceandpatientenjoymentofmealsanddining.

•       Advocatesforpatientstohonortheirchoicesinfoodanddining.

•       Usesmenusandtrayticketstoservemealscorrectly.

•       Meetsmealschedulesandhasmealsreadytoserveontime.

•       Servesmealsattractivelyusingappropriategarnishes,servingutensilsanddinnerware.

•       Preparesandassistswithspecialfunctionmeals.
