Essential Functions of Dietary Cook:
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.
- Determine types and quantities of meats, vegetables, and soups to e prepared by reviewing planned menus and are timely
- Determine the amount of foods needed to meet weekly menus and submit order to Dietary Manager
- Assist in establishment and maintenance of perpetual supplies inventory, and notifies Dietary manager of shortages or discrepancies
- Consult with Dietary manager regarding use of left-overs, stores, and labels accordingly
- Consult registered dietitian on modified diets
- Supervise dietary workers when washing, trimming, or preparing food
- Assist in training, orientation, and supervisor of newly hired dietary staff
- Measure and mix ingredient according to approved recipes, using blenders, mixers, grinders, slicers, etc.
- Cook meat, fish, and fowl in a variety of ways such as: baking, roasting, broiling, and steaming as well as carve into individual servings according to menu combinations and resident diet orders
- Test food temperatures
- Prepare special nourishment and supplements as instructed by Dietary Manager, and identify with resident name and room number
- Always observe infection prevention and control practices
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen
- Perform all aspects of resident care in an environment that optimizes resident safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/healthcare errors
- Perform all other tasks and duties as assigned
Qualifications of Dietary Cook:
- High School diploma or general equivalency is preferred
- 1 year of experience is preferred
- Candidates must maintain a working email address and phone number for employer communication
