Title: Dietary Manager

- Dietary Manager Accountability
- Hires, orients, trains, coaches, disciplines, and when appropriate, terminates employees
- Ensures ongoing competency of staff, and compliance with food safety regulations and Joint Commission standards
- Encourages intra- and inter-departmental team work and team building
- Is engaged, sympathetic, empathetic using BBGH core values as our guide
- Ensures departmental policies and procedures reflect current standards
- Demonstrates strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Communicates on various levels to include management, peers, patients and families
- Consistently displays commitment to customer service through words and actions
- Demonstrates knowledge of and supports organizational goals
- Schedules work hours of staff, and ensures shifts are properly staffed.
- Monitors and authorizes staff requests for time off
- Evaluates work performance and gives evaluations to Dietary employees
- Participates in organizational leadership meetings
- Leads and participates in Process Improvement and Service Excellence
- Anticipates and follows up on customer requests, questions and complaints
- Resolves issues to improve patient satisfaction using service recovery as indicated
- Leads by example and addresses opportunities as indicated
- Holds staff accountable for knowledge of organizational/departmental policies
- Actively participates in identifying department needs
- Contributes to a team-oriented environment
- Is receptive to being taught, coached and mentored
- Leads shift briefs, debriefs and huddles
- Consistently seeks and responds appropriately to opportunities for exceeding the expectations of our customers—patients, families, medical providers and co-workers
- Uses BBGH standardized communication tools for improved communication, teamwork
- Maintains awareness of patient satisfaction score initiatives and takes active role with improvements
- Coordinates services with other departments in a manner that achieves goals in areas of responsibility
- Collaborates with the Dietician in the development of standardized recipes and ensures staff compliance
- In collaboration with the Dietician and Chief Nursing Officer, develops, reviews and revised job descriptions, and develops departmental goals, objectives, policies and procedures
- Does not engage in the 3 B’s (bickering, backstabbing and blaming)
- Participates in the 3 C’s (caring, committing and collaborating)
- Suggests process improvements as needed
- Requests educational assistance as needed
- Demonstrates cooperative, constructive complaint, problem solving techniques and offers suggestions for improvement using BBGH standardized tools and behaviors for conflict resolution
- Resolves issues to improve patient satisfaction using service recovery as indicated
- Offers suggestions and actively participates in identifying department needs
- Other Duties as assigned
Age Requirement
- 19 years of age or older unless otherwise noted in the position summary
Education
- Required:
- High School Graduate
- Preferred: College degree in Food Science or Nutrition, Business Management, Registered Dietitian or Registered Dietetic Technician
Conditional:- Successful completion of Dietary Management Certificate within two years of employment

Experience/Qualifications
- Required:
- Previous management or supervisory experience or education
- Proficient computer skills to include: Microsoft Office Word and Excel, email and internet
- Preferred: One year experience in health care food service
Licenses/Certifications
- Required:
- ServSafe certification within six months of employment
- Certified Dietary Manager within two years of employment
- Valid Driver's License
Conditional:- ServSafe certification within six months of employment
- Certified Dietary Manager within two years of employment
Position Hours Per Day - Must maintain budgeted hours
Expected work hours up to - 10
Upon hire must provide copy of Immunization Record and disclose your current influenza immunization
