Qualifications Needed:
- High school diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited dietetic training course approved by the American Dietetic Association
- Must possess a CDM certificate
- Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience in food services for a nursing facility or hospital
- Received training in food management
- Proficient in food procedures
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to move throughout the day
- Capable of lifting up to 25 lbs. to a height of 5 feet
- Ability to read fine print on labels and menus
- Per California state mandate, COVID-19 vaccination is required for this role
Responsibilities:
- Organize, plan, and oversee the dietary department in compliance with relevant federal, state, and local standards under the direction of the Administrator and/or Dietician
- Treat each resident with kindness, dignity, and respect
- Collaborate with all departments and multidisciplinary teams
- Demonstrate patience, initiative, and willingness to assist residents
- Relay necessary information about a resident’s condition to a charge nurse
- Commit to ethical conduct
- Supervise, staff, and train dietary personnel
- Collaborate with the Dietician to ensure residents receive appropriate diets
- Ensure staff adhere to sanitation, safety, and procedural guidelines
- Participate in facility surveys and inspections and address deficiencies
- Review menus prior to food preparation
- Inspect special diet trays to ensure correct diets are served
- Ensure timely meal and snack service
- Maintain clean and operational food service equipment
- Coordinate food service with other departments
- Monitor food storage areas for compliance
- Adhere to safety regulations
- Provide informative dietary progress notes
- Attend meetings and committees as required
- Generate reports for dietary programs
- Follow all dietary facility policies and procedures
- Maintain confidentiality of resident care information
- Perform any additional duties as directed by management.
