Description:7a-3:30p / Full Time / 40 Hours
The Dietetic Technician, under the direction of the Clinical Dietitian, provides nutrition screening of inpatients and provides Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) as necessary and/or appropriate or refers patient to clinical dietitian. Provides MNT for patients with length of stay of 7 days. Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) includes assessment, nutrition diagnosis, and intervention recommendations to manage patient care. Provides basic nutrition education for inpatients and outpatients as appropriate. Consults with physicians and health care personnel to develop a nutrition plan using the Nutrition Care Process for optimum outcome. Documents care process in the medical record. Completes initial assessments, nutrition consults and follow ups per policy and as appropriate. Nutrition screening of inpatients: Screens inpatients for nutrition risk. Communicates with clinical dietitian if patient requires full nutrition assessment from a registered dietitian. Medical Nutrition Therapy: Provides nutrition assessment, follow up, and/or education for patients based on length of stay or condition. Communication with interdisciplinary team: Communicates effectively with clinical dietitians and all members of the healthcare team to provide patient centered care. Calorie count documentation: Assesses patient calorie count data and provides recommendations.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- An Associates or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a major in Dietetics or related field.
- Completion of a Nutrition and Dietetics Technician Program accredited by ACEND.
- Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) Nutrition and Dietetics Technician, Registered (DTR or NDTR) credential preferred.
- Maintains competency in adult and geriatric nutrition.
- Competent in basic computer skills.
