- Job Summary
- The Clinical Dietetic Technician will assist registered dietitians in implementing nutritional care appropriate for age and disease for pediatric patients within the defined scope of practice. The Clinical Dietetic Technician will be responsible for: identifying nutritional risks; collecting data, including, but not limited to patient nutrition histories; providing patient and staff education on diet modification for age and disease states; completing nutrient intake analyses; and reviewing/approving patient food selections for proper choices for all modified diets, including food allergies. The Clinical Dietetic Technician will be responsible for initiating consults and providing clinical patient services under the direction and supervision of a dietitian.
- The Clinical Dietetic Technician performs all other duties as required, or, in the absence of the EFL Dietetic Technician, performs other related duties for the overall efficient functioning of the Department of Clinical Nutrition. The technician will manage all activities of the Enteral Feeding Lab (EFL) when the primary EFL technicians are off and is responsible performing all duties of the EFL Dietetic Technician including calculation, preparation, delivery and monitoring of specialized infant formula, modulated infant or pediatric formulas and medical nutrition supplements (refer to EFL Dietetic Technician job description for specific essential functions).
- Education
- Bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition from an ADA approved program.
- Experience
- 6-12 months of clinical work experience preferred.
