About the Job
Our client is seeking a dedicated registered dietitian at a large State hospital, caring across diverse age groups and different conditions.
Position Summary: The successful candidate must hold the relevant degree in post-secondary institutions and have a valid Washington State Food Handler’s Permit.
Responsibilities:
· Assess nutrition status and provide care using the Nutrition Care Process for our diverse psychiatric patient population.
· Recommend appropriate interventions including therapeutic diet orders, oral supplements, and enteral nutrition orders.
· Monitor patient response to interventions and individual progress.
· Evaluate and monitor nutritional status and update plan of care.
· Design and provide nutrition education to patients individually and in group settings.
· Promote optimal patient health at the individual patient level and hospital-wide.
· Participate in the planning of nutritionally adequate menus.
· Conduct peer chart reviews and provide feedback to the supervisor.
· Participate in department meetings and communicate with the care team and peers.
· Help mediate food services for patient care.
· Help facilitate community nutrition in-patient areas.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree with a major in food and nutrition or dietetics
· Registration as a Dietitian by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics or eligible for registration at the time of hire and pass the registration examination within one year of date of hire.
· Must have a valid Washington State Food Handler’s Permit.
Necessary Attributes:
· Knowledge of principles of medical nutrition therapy.
· Maintain professional and technical knowledge via continuing education and current dietitian credentials.
· Knowledge of computer software, information systems, networks, and platforms.
· Skills in working with confidential client information.
· Ability to instruct others.
· Effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
· Ability to work under stressful conditions.
· Ability to work independently and collaboratively with food service teams.
The work involvesresponsibility for performing nursing services in the care and treatment of residents. Direct supervision is received from a Charge Nurse. Supervision may be exercised over Nursing Assistants and unit helpers. Does related work as required.
