About the Tech Flex Leaders Program:
The Tech Flex Leaders (TFL) Program is an immersive out-of-school time program for juniors and seniors. This program engages students interested in technology through:
Weekly technical training sessions taught by industry experts
Intersectional professional development sessions designed to prepare students to confidently pursue degrees and careers in technology
Career days and mentorship opportunities with representatives from leading technology companies
We are currently seeking dynamic, intentional, and skilled Digital Marketing Instructor(s) to bring our Digital Marketing curriculum to life for students during the Spring semester of the 2024-2025 TFL Program. Our Digital Marketing instructor(s) will work with 2 different cohorts of students who meet once a week for 2.5 hours. Each cohort is between 25 and 30 students, all either juniors or seniors in high school.
Instructor Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Curriculum Prep and Instruction:
Review AOT’s curriculum on a weekly basis to ensure command of material
Prep auxiliary activities or examples to bring the content to life for students
Lead all content sessions, paying particular attention to student engagement
Work with the program manager to develop remediation plans to support student content mastery
Create an inclusive classroom atmosphere where all students feel valued and supported in their learning journey
Data Management:
Ensure complete student submission of all program assignments and projects
Assess student projects and assignments using AOT-developed rubrics, providing regular written and verbal feedback
Provide summary data on key metrics for program reports
General:
Uphold AOT’s core values in all aspects of the role
Foster and maintain a positive and welcoming classroom environment for all program participants and partners
Attend daily check-in meetings with the program manager and peer mentor to ensure alignment ahead of the day’s session
Attend meetings with the Program Team to discuss program impact and to troubleshoot any challenges, as needed
Complete any additional duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will:
Be available for Virtual Instructor Onboarding(s) on January 14 from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM (Part 1) and January 16 from 5:00 PM - 6:00 PM (Part 2).
Be available Wednesdays from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. from Jan 22 - May 7 + an additional 2 hours/week for preparation, assessment, student office hours, and curriculum feedback. During one week of the semester, the Instructor will join a 1-hour Virtual Career Panel for students participating in one of our partner programs.
NOTE: There is no program for students or instructors during the week of April 14 - April 17 due to the LAUSD Spring Break. There is an Intersectional PD session for students during the week of March 3 - March 6 that instructors are not expected to attend.
AND/OR
Be available Thursdays from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. from Jan 23 - May 8 + an additional 2 hours/week for preparation, assessment, student office hours, and curriculum feedback. During one week of the semester, the Instructor will join a 1-hour Virtual Career Panel for students participating in one of our partner programs.
NOTE: There is no program for students or instructors during the week of April 14 - April 17 due to the LAUSD Spring Break. There is an Intersectional PD session for students during the week of March 3 - March 6 that instructors are not expected to attend.
Be available for in-person sessions in Downtown Los Angeles: January 22 and/or January 23, March 26 and/or March 27, and May 7 and/or May 8
(Optional) Attend TFL Graduation on May 15 from 6:00 - 7:30 PM.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will show up each day excited to support students to success, doing whatever it takes to ensure a dynamic, encouraging, and successful program experience for all. Ideal candidates also:
Have a Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline or at least 2-3 years of equivalent experience
Have expertise and experience in Digital Marketing
Have experience in technology instruction, particularly with a high-school age audience
Have the ability to explain concepts in multiple ways and to students with varying levels of experience
Incorporate an anti-racist lens into their work and are passionate about working at an organization that values and promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion
Support and enhance a sense of belonging for all students
Exhibit Proficiency in Google Suite, especially Google Docs, Google Calendar, Google Slides, Google Sheets and Google Classroom
Have a reliable laptop/desktop with a webcam, working audio, and internet speeds that exceed the minimum requirements for hosting a Zoom meeting
