Position Summary
The Westlake Chamber of Commerce is a friendly, vibrant and growing organization dedicated to supporting local businesses and fostering a thriving community in the greater Westlake community. We are seeking a positive and outgoing team player to fill a newly established role, the Digital Media & Events Coordinator.
As the Digital Media & Events Coordinator, the individual in this role plays a crucial part in advancing the Chamber's mission to empower local businesses, connect the Westlake community, and enhance economic growth. Their work in digital media and event coordination directly supports strategic initiatives and helps build stronger community ties. They coordinate Chamber events in collaboration with the Executive Director and are responsible for building social media content and maintaining the website to ensure consistent and engaging communication.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Digital Media Management:
- Execute digital media strategies that promote the Chambers mission and activities, aiming to boost ticket sales and increase overall exposure for our initiatives.
- Manage and create content for the Chambers social media platforms, website, and email campaigns.
- Promote Chamber programs and events through local news publications.
- Monitor and analyze digital media performance, using insights to improve engagement and reach.
- Ensure all digital communications reflect the Chambers brand and values.
Event Coordination:
- Plan, coordinate, and execute a variety of annual events, including networking events, celebrations, fundraisers, community events, and other events that come up.
- Collaborate with local businesses, sponsors, and vendors to ensure successful event partnerships.
- Manage volunteers, providing guidance, training and support to ensure events are executed efficiently and professionally.
- Handle event logistics, including venue selection, registration processes, and on-site management.
- Promote events through various digital channels and track attendance and engagement metrics.
Community/Member/Board Relations:
- Foster strong relationships with local businesses, community members, and stakeholders.
- Act as a liaison between the Chamber and the community, ensuring that the Chambers initiatives are effectively communicated and supported.
- Identify opportunities for community partnerships and collaborations that align with the Chambers mission.
- As part of a small office staff, greet all visitors and guests and provide referrals to local businesses and attractions.
- Answer, screen and forward any incoming phone calls while providing basic information.
- Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience:
Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or a related field.
- Experience in a related field may be excepted in lieu of a degree.
- Proven experience in digital media management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong event planning abilities, problem solving and outgoing personality.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work as part of a team in a small office environment.
- Proficiency in social media platforms, content management systems, Microsoft Office suite, Canva or similar design software, and analytics tools. Experience with Constant Contact is a plus.
- Passion for community engagement and economic development.
Work Environment
While performing the responsibilities of this position, the individual will work in a variety of settings, including the office, event venues, community events and local businesses. The role requires the ability to perform standard office duties, utilizing both audible and visual skills. Reliable transportation in a personal vehicle is also necessary for travel to various locations.
A typical workweek is 20 hours in the office, but the schedule will vary based on workflow, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business needs dictate. Occasionally, the position may require lifting or carrying items up to 25 pounds.
