Stark Parks is currently hiring a Digital Media Specialist. If you are an extroverted personality that has some hands on experience with developing content, community outreach and is comfortable with what it takes to build positive brand awareness we invite you to apply. This position provides support and works together with the community engagement team. Some of the duties include assisting in and development and monitoring of digital, social media and content marketing, and creating original content. We are a small team where everyone pitches in and while the work is rewarding you must be prepared to enjoy leading as well as assisting other team members in various projects.
PURPOSE:
Provides support to the community engagement team by completing customary digital content, graphics creation, outreach and building brand awareness. Serves as an expert in online content creation, social media planning, execution, and measurement. The position requires an understanding of social media channels and graphic design programs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Support the overall community engagement plan and improve awareness of the Park District by planning, executing, and participating in public programming, educational programs, community events, and other public relation related opportunities as assigned.
- Creates and designs, coordinates, contributes to and maintains successful online content and social media campaigns that align with Stark Parks community engagement initiatives and measures their effectiveness.
- Schedules; maintains, updates and makes recommendations for improvements to current online marketing media (website, social media).
- Produces and edits dynamic pieces of content for social distribution. Use creative video editing and techniques to produce innovative content for a variety of our social media channels.
- Proactively seeks out and creates compelling, highly sharable content on social media.
- Sets and achieves goals for driving social media growth and engagement with deep understanding of the target audience.
- Measures and reports on editorial (print and social) content engagement and trends, and proactively participates in developing topics and strategies for continual program
- Plans and develops printed/electronic programs calendars, and descriptions. Assists in creation of Friends of Stark Parks (FOSP) event promotional materials
- Creates and designs bi-annual Stark County Park District magazine and other relevant park communication pieces (i.e. Annual Report, Brochures)
- Supports the Community Engagement Department by assisting with new initiatives and other special projects as assigned.
- Responsible for updating kiosks and delivering needed media to partnering organizations as needed. Supports various FOSP events and fundraisers as applicable and necessary.
- Independently coordinates and promotes internal marketing and community events, including assisting with logistics, creating promotional graphics, and ordering marketing materials. Frequent local travel as part of performance of duties is required.
- All other duties as assigned.
SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of various advertising and marketing techniques
- Working knowledge of marketing analytics and search engine optimization (SEO) principles
- Well organized with strong time management skills and project management skills (setting and meeting deadlines), as well as attention to detail
- Firm grasp on various marketing platforms, channels, and best practices, including social, digital, and email marketing
- Excellent writing, editing (photo, video, text), design, presentation and communication skills
- Understanding of how to create a "social media-friendly voice" in social media to build authentic, relevant, interactive conversations and relationships
- Strong interpersonal skills, ability to motivate and drive collaboration with other departments and stakeholders without direct authority over those groups
- Ability to work independently without supervision
- Ability and willingness to work in a team environment
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Adobe After Effects and Final Cut Pro is a plus
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Associates degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Communications or related field required, Bachelor's degree preferred. Two (2) to three (3) years of online content creation and social media management (managing brand development, building brand advocacy, and social media campaigns) preferred.
WORK CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL FACTORS:
Must be able to perform physical requirements of the job including but not limited to: ability to talk clearly and hear, use hands and fingers to handle/feel, at times required to stand, walk, bend, reach, stoop, kneel and crouch. Frequent ability to lift/carry, push/pull up to 50 lbs. with or without assistance. Vision abilities include close, distance and peripheral vision. Ability to work in an active environment and be out in nature and at the park locations.
Pay: $38,400.75- $46,921.62
Hours: 8a - 4p, Monday through Friday with flexibility for weekend and after hours work as needed. Flexibility is a must.
Must be eligible for employment in the United States, have a valid Ohio driver's license, and be insurable. Pre-employment background check and drug screening will be performed.
