You will architect the system along with our customers by bringing to bear technology assets across Viasat and our partners
The products and systems you will be defining are in V-Band Crosslinks, Radar and SIGINT applications.You will develop the algorithms necessary to solve a wide range of DSP challenges
You will build system solutions from your algorithms by transitioning them from simulations to instantiations on DSP/FPGA/GPU platforms.The day-to-dayThe DSP work can be broken into three major development cycles that you will be responsible for:Floating-point simulation (Matlab)Starting with a customer challenge, you will research, then design, the DSP algorithms required to tackle that challenge.Fixed-point modeling (Simulink)Given the evidence provided from floating-point simulation, you will build a digital logic model that proves how logic blocks can process equivalent math within the constraints of the platform (when applicable).Lab implementation supportFrom the fixed-point modeling, you will generate test vectors that must be matched by team members in the Digital group
You will support the Digital team’s implementation and ultimately own the performance of the DSP algorithm as it is applied to the specific platform.You will work with interdisciplinary teams including Digital, Business Development, Systems, Software, RF circuits, hardware engineers, and others

Keep reading...What you'll need5+ years applied signal processing experienceProven experience with the architectural definition, design, and integrationConsistent track record developing, defining, and implementing signal processing solutions in communication and/or radar systemsProven background in random processes, communication theory, and spectral analysisDemonstrated experience in collaborating with customersAbility to perform systems level analysisValidated able to derive module/box requirements from system level requirementsBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience US government position. US citizenship requiredActive DoD Secret Clearance or ability to obtain when administratively feasibleAbility to travel up to 10%What will help you on the jobM.S

degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related fieldProven experience writing discrete-time simulations in Matlab, C/C++, or PythonExperience creating discrete-time fixed-point models in Simulink (or equivalent)Knowledge of RF, modem, and/or networking fundamentalsAESA/phased array, Radar, SIGINT, or EW experienceStrong communication skills – both verbal and writtenMust be comfortable developing and presenting briefingsDetailed design or hands on hardware test experienceDigital implementation work on FPGAs (or equivalent)Salary range$120,100.00 - $208,800.00 / annually At Viasat, we consider many factors when it comes to compensation, including the scope of the position as well as your background and experience
Base pay may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience
