HJF is seeking a Digital Specialist II (Web Designer/Developer) (Telework) (Full-Time) to support the Consortium for Health and Military Performance (CHAMP). HJF provides the Uniformed Services University with scientific, technical, and programmatic support services. The Digital Specialist II (Web Designer/Developer) will manage the front and back end of all of CHAMP’s websites. The incumbent will be integral to creating, contributing, and implementing CHAMP’s digital strategy. This role will optimize our search engine performance, develop and implement UX/UI strategies, and oversee webpage strategy and functionality. The Digital Specialist must develop a deep understanding of the CHAMP website’s needs, goals, priorities, and deficiencies to meet CHAMP's digital communication goals.
The Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine (HJF) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing military medicine. We serve military, medical, academic and government clients by administering, managing and supporting preeminent scientific programs that benefit members of the armed forces and civilians alike. Since its founding in 1983, HJF has served as a vital link between the military medical community and its federal and private partners. HJF's support and administrative capabilities allow military medical researchers and clinicians to maintain their scientific focus and accomplish their research goals.
Responsibilities:- Website operations–Responsible for creating, editing, and updating webpages on CHAMP websites (around 5 websites) and intranet using current best practices. Web tasks include posting content, including written, graphic, audio, and video, onto websites in a timely fashion and selecting images to accompany the content. Performs regular audits and troubleshooting, continuously checking each website for current content to improve user experience and ensure 508 compliance.
- Digital experience– Liaise with subcontractors, internal team members, and stakeholders to ensure digital strategy and operations are centralized, streamlined, and executed timely. Utilize and integrate UX/UI strategies to optimize websites.
- Digital strategy–Leads the development and implementation of CHAMP’s digital strategy. Working with team members, this position will identify and address gaps in performance metrics, develop and execute creative solutions, and monitor and present findings and trends.
- Market research–Stays current with industry trends and emerging digital technologies to recommend new strategies and tools.
- Search Engine Optimization (SEO)–Develop and execute comprehensive SEO strategies to improve organic search rankings, including optimizing generative AI search trends.
- Website metrics–Analyzes website performance metrics and implements improvements based on data-driven insights.
- Web workflow management–Contribute to the CHAMP catalog design and campaign materials database. Contribute to the processing workflow system (Jira) and catalog of orders.
- May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for the role.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Must have excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are needed.
- Basic command of HTML & JavaScript for customizing template settings.
- Foundation in UX / UI development and integration.
- Utilization of Figma and/or other related/similar design tools.
- Experience using the full scope of Google products, Adobe Acrobat, and Drupal.
- Working knowledge and experience with Google Analytics (G4).
- Preference for familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite for assistance in creating web graphics and short videos.
- Preference for demonstrated school work or work experience with identifying and implementing search engine optimization.
- Preference for experience using Drupal of similar content management systems.
- Preference for knowledge of 508 compliance guidelines.
- Preference for knowledge of military culture, education and nutrition and the social sciences/behavioral health field a plus.
- The incumbent must be able to work independently, identify deficiencies and resolutions, and perform duties with minimal guidance.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a T1 Public Trust.
Work Environment
- This position will take place primarily in an office setting.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree required. Master’s Degree preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years experience required.
Compensation
- The annual range for this position is $64,200-$85,000.00. Actual salary will be determined based on experience, education, etc.
