Position Title: Dining Operations Manager
Reports To: Food and Beverage Manager
Position Summary:
Catawba Island Club (CIC) invites you to join our team where we create exceptional experiences for our members through private dining and a diverse range of events. The Dining Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing both the operations of the dining rooms and bar areas to ensure that guest expectations are met and exceeded. This role focuses on providing high-quality service through staff training and management, inventory management, and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety. The Dining Operations Manager also works to maintain employee morale, support event planning, and ensure the club's special events and bar programs operate smoothly.
Direct Reports: Assistant Dining Room Manager and Bar Operations Supervisor
Core Responsibilities:
Dining Room Management:
-Oversee dining room service, including the creation and implementation of training programs for all front-of-house staff
-Supervise the dining room staff, including hiring, training, and scheduling to ensure smooth operations.
-Monitor dining room cleanliness and ensure proper sanitation is maintained at all times.
-Assist in purchasing and managing operating supplies for the dining room.
-Work with dining room staff to ensure adherence to service standards, including but not limited to personal hygiene, safety, and service non-negotiables.
-Focus on delivering consistency and the highest quality in member experiences and service, creating memorable moments for members and guests.
Bar Management:
-In coordination with Human Resources and the Food and Beverage Manager, manage the hiring, training, supervising, and mentoring of bar staff.
-Prepare staffing schedules and ensure appropriate bar coverage during events and busy periods.
-Oversee bar operations, ensuring proper opening and closing procedures are followed and supplies are adequately stocked to meet par levels.
-Manage liquor inventory, perform weekly and monthly counts, and ensure timely deliveries from suppliers
-Work with bar supervisor to create and curate bar menus, including seasonal cocktails and banquet options, staying up-to-date with new product offerings.
-Manage item pricing to meet operational profit goals in conjunction with the Food and Beverage Manager.
-Supervise the cleanliness and maintenance of bar areas and equipment.
-Ensure bar-related tasks such as managing Multiflow syrups, CO2, and nitro systems are performed effectively.
Event and Banquet Support:
-Assist with banquet setup, including ensuring cleanliness and readiness of rooms and buffets.
-Support event planning by collaborating with dining and bar staff to ensure special events are promoted and operate smoothly.
Kitchen Support
-Continue to build on a positive culture between front and back of house teams, instilling core values and teamwork through the operation.
-Provide consistent communication with Executive Chef or Sous Chef(s) ensuring familiarity of menus, features, and kitchen inventory.
-Provide strong communication with expediting team during service to ensure any food requests or issues with food are handled appropriately.
Inventory and Financial Controls:
-Conduct monthly liquor inventory audits, review results, and submit reports at month-end.
-Manage liquor requisitions, stocking, and controls to ensure accurate inventory levels.
-Monitor and report any violations related to employment laws and escalate issues to the appropriate staff as needed.
Experience/Requirements:
-A bachelor's degree is preferred, with a focus on Hospitality Management.
-Substantial private club or hospitality experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
-Strong leadership and team-building skills to effectively manage staff across multiple departments.
-Familiarity with inventory management, pricing strategies, and event planning.
Schedule Expectations:
-The Dining Operations Manager is expected to be available during busy periods (which may vary throughout the year), weekends, and operating holidays.
-Flexibility to manage extended workdays (over 9 hours) with periods of respite during slower times.
-Availability for remote support when not physically on-site, unless otherwise approved by management.
Minimum Physical Job Requirements:
-Ability to carry loads up to 45 pounds.
-Ability to work on feet for up to 12 hours.
-Ability to exert fast-paced mobility for periods of 4 hours or more.
