JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Clinical Information Systems contributes to patient care by providing leadership to improve the quality, efficiency, and effectiveness of clinical information systems and clinical operations throughout the Forrest General health care system. Provides direction and/or design oversight on the following:
- Strategic use of all clinical systems which includes, but is not limited to (QCPR).
- Onsite daily for the integration and mapping of workflows and partnerships with nursing colleagues.
- Design input of all training activities for Patient Care Services relative to appropriate use of clinical systems.
- Inputs to clinical data reporting and quality outcomes impacted by clinical documentation.
- Promotion and lead on nursing shared governance and councils relative to clinical informatics.
- On policies and procedures for standards of practice relative to appropriate use of clinical systems for purposes of meaningful use and best practice.
- To patient care staff relative to accountability on compliance with established standards of practice for use of clinical systems in coordination with each Director personally responsible for each department.
- Address IT issues, relevant to informatics, through troubleshooting and repair.
- Provide system and operations expertise on executive committees.
- Develop and oversee with the assistance of CFO departmental goals, budgets, objectives.
- Ensure compliance with new laws and regulations in healthcare technology.
- Oversee the daily operations of the clinical information systems.
- Support role in the implementation and maintenance of clinical information processes.
Performance Expectations:
The Director of Clinical Information Systems is a remote position. The Director of Clinical Information Systems employs organizational strategies in a balanced approach that produces meaningful contributions to each element of the Formula for Success. Requires the promotion of and adherence to the organization's established Compliance Program and Standards of Conduct. Demonstrates knowledge and skills to appropriately communicate and interact with staff and physicians to understand and re-design work flows. As a Director, interacts with patients, families, and visitors of all age groups while being sensitive to their cultural and religious beliefs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Skills: Minimum of Bachelor Degree in Nursing, Information Systems or related field required. This role is 100% onsite and not eligible for remote work. A registered nurse degree (ADN or BSN) is required.
Work Experience: A minimum of 4 years as an RN with a diverse clinical background is required. Exposure to quality principles and report writing and information systems experience is preferred. Progressively responsible leadership experience is required.
Mental Demands: Effective communication and positive interpersonal skills with strong
analytical abilities. Must have excellent computer skills and knowledge.
Certification/Licensure: Current Mississippi license to practice professional nursing or
current certification in information systems (such as CDP or other designation) is required.
