Direct Digital Control (DDC) Technician - Facilities - Days / Weekends
The DDC Technician maintains, repairs, installs, and operates all Direct Digital Control Systems as related to the HVAC, Power Distribution, and Energy Metering Systems of the hospital. Maintains DDC control equipment and devices, including field panels, wiring, tubing, and local control devices. Repairs, maintains, and upgrades systems as required. Ensures proper operation of all devices. Responsible for comprehension, calibration, and testing of all systems and components on a regular basis. Responsible for service requests to adjust airflow, temperature, and humidity balancing for individual rooms and areas of entire buildings. Responds to emergency calls and serves as an on-call technician for emergencies on evenings and weekends. Participates in commissioning newly installed equipment by contractors to ensure compliance with specifications and minimize future operational problems. Assists in development of energy tracking systems to identify energy usage and savings, along with implementation of new control strategies. Develops reports on equipment and system operation. Writes code for control sequences. Develops and modifies front-end graphics as required. Installs new components and systems as required.
This is a full time day position, 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, located at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital / Columbia University Irving Medical Center. This role is scheduled to work weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and 3 days during the week.
Required Criteria
- High School Diploma or GED
- Two to four years related experience
Preferred Criteria
- Associate's Degree
- Trade school or equivalent
- Specialized training of a type normally received as a Technician for a DDC controls manufacturer or vendor
- Experience in DDC system design, installation, operation, and commissioning
