Personal Care Attendant - Chesapeake
Part Time - Saturday and Sunday 12PM-5PM
This position as a Personal Care Aide (PCA) is responsible for implementing behavior management techniques, supervision, training, assistance, and support for individuals who are intellectually disabled in community based environments. This position will assist with the implementation of Individual Support Plans, provide training and support in a variety of daily living skills, and have knowledge of the basic medical aspects concerning individuals with disabilities (i.e. CPR and First Aid, Medication Management, etc.). This position requires the ability to work with various levels of disabilities that individuals may have. The Program Supervisors will directly supervise this position.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the health, safety and welfare of individuals by providing excellent direct care, supervision and adhering to all OSHA regulations.
- Provide support to each individual in maintaining proper personal appearance and cleanliness.
- Identify escalating at-risk behavioral indicators and assist with the implementation and training of approved behavioral programs, written by a Licensed Behavioral Consultant.
- Utilize standard communication and other alternative communication systems with non-verbal and language-delayed individuals.
- Monitor and promote health, welfare, and safety of all individuals.
- Provide individuals with supervision, assistance and support during emergency situations, such as fire drills, etc.
- Attend and satisfactorily complete all required in-service trainings in areas of First Aid,CPR, OSHA, DSP Orientation Workbook, and Physical Intervention.
- Implement the utilization of positive behavior management techniques, when applicable.
- Assist with the implementation of opportunities for individuals to use functional skills in various community settings.
- Other responsibilities and duties as assigned by the Program Supervisors and Operations Officer.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :
- Prolonged standing, walking, and running may be required.
- Heavy Lifting (up to 50 pounds).
Qualifications
You must have a valid Virginia certification as a PCA or CNA, successful completion of DSP Orientation Workbook Training, Criminal Background Check, Child Protective Services Background Check, Physical Intervention Training, CPR and First Aid, OSHA Training, and a TB Test Screening. *Agency provides the some of the necessary training classes*
