Overview
The Direct Support Professional provides person centered supports based on the individual’s needs, preferences and choices. DSPs perform a wide variety of tasks and activities based on the valued outcomes of each person they work with, and reflecting the specific skills and abilities of each individual. DSPs encourage, guide and offer training to develop daily living skills, ensuring personal needs are met, promoting active engagement in the community life and ensuring health and safety. DSPs create a positive and enriching program environment for all persons supported. Direct Support Professionals are a vital member of each person’s support team. DSP’s are expected to know, understand and live the Code of Ethics.

Annual Salary
$17.00 per hour with HS Diploma/GED
$17.73 per hour with Bachelor’s Degree
Responsibilities
For this position, we are looking for a great candidate to work with individuals in fostering an environment of personal growth for everyone by enriching the lives of people with intellectual/developmental/mental health disabilities. These responsibilities include:
- Working directly with an individual in their home or out in the community
- Enhance social skills and opportunities for socialization.
- Planning and implementing activities that help foster independence and promote community involvement.
- Helping individuals develop social and relationship-building skills.
- Maintaining and completing all daily data and monthly documentation.
- Modeling productive and appropriate behavior for the individuals you work with planning activity within the community.
Qualifications
· High School Diploma or GED; some college is a plus.
· Work or life experience supporting people with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities is a plus, but not required.
· 6 months - 1 years’ experience with people with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities preferred.
· Flexible schedule.
· Work weekdays & weekends
· Ability to travel throughout NYC.
· Great customer service
· Valid Driver's License, NY State preferred.
Schedule:
8:00 AM – 4:00 PM Weekdays
8:00 AM – 6:00 PM (4 days on Weekdays)
4 Day Work Week Option Available
