Scottsdale Training & Rehabilitation Services (STARS) is seeking a Direct Support Professional to join the Day Training for Adults Program. Incumbent will maintain a meaningful environment for instruction and supporting personal attendant care. The DSP will work closely with DTA Case Manager(s) and the DTA Program manager to implement program goals, team objectives, and schedules of daily activities including planned events.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure a safe environment and the well-being of participants, adhering to OSHA Standards
- Training and maintenance of routines with various developmental/cognitive and/or physical challenges, individually or in groups in the DTA program
- Provide participants with consistent life and social skills training to increase independence.
- Assist participants in attendant care as needed.
- Maintain weekly case notes and daily objective sheets tracking ISP and/or BIP goals for participants.
- Review and implement individualized support plans (ISP/PCSP)
- Exhibit appropriate role model behavior by using appropriate language, dress, manners and respect to participants and staff.
- Serve as a liaison between STARS, participants, and their family members, directing families to a case manager and the DTA Program Manager
- Communicate DTA supply requirements to the DTA Program Manager
- Administer non-prescription/prescription medication as prescribed by licensed medical professionals; approved through case manager, DTA program Manager and participant's guardians.
- Report and inform the case manager regarding incidents immediately, as needed.
- Adhere to confidentiality policy, including state and federal laws.
- In times of staffing shortages, have the flexibility to assist in other DTA classrooms
- Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
- Demonstrate organizational skills and strong attention to detail.
- Proficient communication skills (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge and understanding of developmental/cognitive and/or physical disabilities, behavior modification skills, and intervention strategies that can be implemented.
- Ability to function independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to plan, learn new programs, have excellent follow through problem-solving skills.
- Maintain a positive attitude and collaborate with participants, staff, and families.
- Basic computer skills in programs such as Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Word
- Demonstrate understanding of the challenges faced by disabled individuals.
- Communicate information and concerns about participants to the case manager and the DTA Program Manager
- Ability to work under stressful situations that may include challenging behaviors from participants and multiple duties.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Preferred: Bachelor's degree in education, special ed., social services, or behavioral health) OR equivalent combination of education and/or experience with comparable knowledge, skills, disabilities, and abilities were achieved.
- Must have a minimum two (2) years of experience working with disabled youth or adults in vocational, rehabilitation, education, or similar setting.
- Must meet DES requirements for a fingerprint clearance card.
- Must pass a criminal background screening.
- Must have reliable transportation to and from work.
- Must be able to frequently stand, walk, sit, and assist participants with physical challenges such as pushing a wheelchair, kneeling, reaching, stretching, bending, etc.
- Must perform crisis intervention techniques to prevent harmful behavior to the participants or others.
- Respond appropriately in crises by calling for assistance as needed and being able to perform First Aid/CPR physically.
- Must fulfill training requirements and adhere to CPR, First-Aid, Article 9, Prevention and Support
