Job Overview:
As a Direct Support Professional at Glenkirk, you will play a pivotal role in providing compassionate care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Your primary responsibility will be to enhance the quality of life for our clients by assisting with daily living activities, fostering independence, and promoting a safe and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Individualized Care:
- Provide direct care and support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities according to their personalized care plans.
- Assist with activities of daily living, including but not limited to bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation.
- Community Integration:
- Facilitate community outings and activities to promote socialization and integration.
- Encourage participation in community events and recreational programs.
- Medication Management:
- Administer medications as prescribed, ensuring strict adherence to medication protocols.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medication records.
- Behavioral Support:
- Implement behavioral support plans and strategies to address challenging behaviors.
- Foster a positive and supportive environment to enhance the overall well-being of individuals.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Complete accurate and timely documentation of client progress, incidents, and daily activities.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members regarding any changes or concerns.
- Collaborative Approach:
- Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, including healthcare professionals, therapists, and family members, to ensure comprehensive care.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (some positions may require additional education or certification).
- Previous experience in direct support or a related field is preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification is a plus.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt to the diverse needs and preferences of individuals with disabilities.
- Active and Valid State driver’s license is required.
