**Job Summary:**
The Direct Support Professional (DSP) will provide habilitative assistance and care to clients in various Agency programs. This includes community and supported living arrangements, family support services, and day/vocational programs. The DSP will be responsible for the direct daily care, teaching, and supervision of clients, including record-keeping.
**Responsibilities:**
- Supervise clients and ensure their safety at all times
- Assist in the preparation and implementation of individualized plans for each client
- Teach, supervise, and assist clients with adult daily living activities, such as personal care, hygiene, meal-planning, and community participation
- Monitor client progress on goals and report any incidents of abuse, neglect, or mistreatment
- Complete incident reports and medication error reports as necessary
- Implement behavioral plans and occupational/physical/speech therapist recommendations
- Develop and implement recreation and community participation activities for clients
- Collaborate with Clinical Director, Consultants, families, schools, and other agencies to provide and implement goals
- Maintain accurate and timely record-keeping of services provided and client goals
- Attend staff meetings, in-services, and required trainings
- Administer medications and provide routine healthcare and first aid to clients
- Keep program sites and vehicles clean and organized
- Transport clients to and from designated activities and programs
- Participate in emergency drills as required
- Maintain accurate records of petty cash and client cash on hand accounts
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Program Director or Assistant
**Qualifications:**
- Successful completion of Medication Certification Program
- Successful completion of PMT, CPR, and First Aid training programs
- Valid CT driver's license with a satisfactory driving record
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years of experience working with individuals with developmental and/or behavioral challenges preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
**Physical Demands:**
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
- May be required to exert in excess of 100 lbs. of force when initiating physical restraint procedures
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, use hands to handle objects, and reach with hands and arms
**Language Skills:**
- Ability to read and interpret English documents
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence in English
**Mathematical Skills:**
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure
**Reasoning Ability:**
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables
