Director & Actuary I
Location: This position will work a hybrid model (remote and office). Must reside within 50 miles/1hour commute from a Elevance Health location.
The Director & Actuary I is responsible for managing, directing and providing leadership for actuarial projects for Commercial Valuation.
How you will make an impact:
+ Guides staff in the preparation and interpretation of data and related formulae.
+ Assists Actuarial department head in developing the company's actuarial policies and procedures.
+ Directs and provides leadership in actuarial functions, which may include: the design, pricing, and implementation of assigned products; estimation of reserves and financial reporting, interpretation and projection; analysis of trends and cost of care initiatives; and actuarial modeling and analytics.
+ Maintains the product line to comply with various state and federal regulations.
+ Conducts and analyzes experience studies, validates pricing assumptions and monitors the consistency of company practices and procedures.
+ Performs short and long-term financial forecasting and analysis.
+ Responsible for decisions determining priority of work assignments, appropriateness of actuarial and statistical analysis, determining actuarial soundness of products, reserve position, underwriting guidelines, etc.
+ Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports.
Minimum Requirements:
+ Requires a BA/BS in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or related field and minimum of 7 years of relate experience; or any combination of education and experience which would provide an equivalent background.
+ Requires ASA/MAAA.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:
+ Prior Valuation and/or Management experience a plus.
For candidates working in person or remotely in the below location(s), the salary* range for this specific position is $148,896 to $243,648.
Locations: Woodland Hills, CA; Denver, CO; Washington D.C.; New York, NY
