The Director of ASC will be the administrative and operations leader for multispecialty surgical centers providing leadership to a team of clinical and business professionals, focused on clinical quality outcomes, labor efficiencies, supply chain management, volume growth drivers and revenue cycle optimization. This position will have a significant impact on patient access, patient care, and positive patient outcomes.
SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT SCOPE
Oversees 175+ staff and physicians performing surgeries between the two Surgical Sites.
Responsibilities:People Leadership (40%)
- Leads workforce planning process ensuring availability of talent and critical competencies needed to deliver quality patient care.
- Leads employee development efforts ensuring staff training and education on procedures, continuing education, competency reviews, safety, compliance, and other related employee training ultimately impacting quality of care.
- Recruits and retains competent, compassionate staff while monitoring performance standards.
- Provides leadership and direction for the staff and physicians while supporting and actualizing the goals of the Center.
Maintenance of Environment and Security (30%)
- Identifies and promptly addresses unsafe practices and other safety issues in the Center.
- Ensures staff participation in all fire safety, infection control and other mandatory training.
- Maintains awareness of current and proposed state and federal laws and regulatory agency standards.
- Implements procedures to meet Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements.
- Establishes procedures for accurate and timely submission of required reports to the State.
- Initiates processes to maintain activities current with state and federal requirements and appropriate accrediting bodies.
- Applies material management principles to establish procedures for use, cleaning, and maintenance of patient care equipment and supplies.
- Medical Office / Administrative Policies:
- Assists in the development and implementation of clinical or administrative policies related to the delivery of care.
Project Coordination (30%)
- Serves on the Center's QI committee.
- Communication:
- Effectively communicates with medical, clinical, and administrative staff to ensure the efficient operations of the Center.
- Effectively communicates with patients and visitors to resolve inquiries.
- Recognizes the need, and responds in a timely manner, to inform Senior Leadership/or Medical Director of operational issues within areas of responsibility.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's Degree required in Health Administration, Business Administration or Management; Master's degree strongly preferred
YEARS OF EXPERIENCE
10+ years required.
At least 5 years of experience leading clinical operations with responsibility for business outcomes, quality outcomes, and process optimization.
- At least 5 years of experience managing clinical and non-clinical teams
- At least 5 years of experience leading an outpatient surgery center strongly preferred
MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA)
- Ability to lead highly complex teams
- Knowledge of related accreditation and certification requirements
- Ability to plan and lead clinical operations as member of a management team
- Ability to function in a highly complex environment while fostering a cooperative work environment
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Operational management experience required
- Budgeting, financial management, clinical service management and materials management
- Experience in outpatient surgery center operations strongly
- Healthcare regulatory and accreditation compliance experience
