About the Job
The Director of Analytics Innovation helps ABS business teams understand and apply the insights delivered through data and analytics, while coaching self-service business technologists and citizen developers to become more effective. This role helps more technical data and analytics staff to understand better business needs, including required data and how required insights relate to improved decision-making.

What You Will Do:
- Define and articulate the technology needs, requirements, and goals of the team to business stakeholders and COE.
- Interface with analysts, leads, and managers to understand their data needs as it relates to analytics solutions.
- Interface with engineers/product managers to implement customers' needs.
- Leverage data and analytics to identify actionable insights and suggest recommendations through effective communication.
- Oversee codebase, pipelines, rule logic and underlying data table architectures that support the operational workflows and its various third-party integrations.
- Develop strong cross-functional partnerships across ABS to drive Data Analytics team's success.
- Lead a team of analysts and automation personnel.
- Collaborate with the program manager, project managers and project sponsors to determine project data scope and vision.
- Possess the ability to recognize problems, then develop and follow through with problem resolution to realize use case development.
- Create reports, tools, or another system to provide feedback to COE as it relates to innovation development and realization.
- Analyze and verify data requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, accuracy, and conformity to data standards and principles.
- Work with business users to perform cost-benefit and return-on-investment (ROI) analyses for proposed innovation use cases.
- Lead effort to research analytics tools to meet agreed-upon requirements and to support purchasing efforts, as well as have an ongoing inventory of what is in the marketplace.
- Create data flow models, specifications, diagrams, and charts to provide direction to support developers and/or the project team.
- Work with project managers to manage and track the status throughout the project lifecycle; enforce and redefine as necessary.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's in a quantitative discipline
- Minimum of 15 years of hands-on work-related experience as it relates to identifying, designing, and developing data-focused analytics solutions for business teams and customers.
- Scrum certification is preferred
- Visualization Tool certification like Power BI DA-100 or Tableau Certified Associate Consultant or Architect is preferred
- MS Azure Data Fundamentals certification is preferred
- Working knowledge of data integration (ETL) as it relates to Data Warehouse and Data Lake.
- Experience using statistical analysis tools (e. g., R, Python, SQL, SAS), data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Spotfire, QlikView), and data integration tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend).
- Experience demonstrating to business teams' analytics solution examples to enable them to identify opportunities for their department and/or ABS customers.
- Experience related to concepts, methods, and techniques as it relates to data management, data architecture, data structures, data governance, and statistical skills.
- Experience with UX/design, for example, creating products and visualizations that are easy to work with and support the activities required by the business teams.
- Consulting experience as it relates to working with stakeholders to design and develop analytics solutions to solve their business needs.
- Experience with analytics techniques such as machine learning, text mining, natural language processing, decision trees, process automation, augmented analytics, etc.
- Experience in leading a team of Data Analysts.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure or other cloud technologies.
- Possess the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Possess the ability to effectively communicate both verbally and written why data analytics practices and standards are needed.
- May require minimal travel on occasion.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Ability to develop a working knowledge of ABS Rules, Guides, statutory regulations, and related instructions, as well as the ABS Employee Safety Policy.
