The salary range for this position is $160,000 - $200,000 per year based upon a San Francisco location. Offered salary is dependent upon experience and location. SUMMARY
The Director of Business Analytics will create data-driven business insights and help transform those into actionable insights for Kendo. While part of the role will focus on Kendo sales analytics, there will also be a deep focus on uncovering detailed market, consumer, and competitive insights.
The ideal candidate will possess a rare blend of outstanding technical and people skills. Success in this role is more than just analyzing data. True success will be achieved by using data to craft actionable stories that drive better business decisions. This will require not only savvy with numbers, but also a robust understanding of business storytelling. This role will be highly cross-functional, and you will often need to translate complex topics into non-financial language. The ability to communicate effectively with all parts of our business is an absolute must.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Using data to understand consumer insights and effectively communicating those insights with marketing and brand partners
- Preparing and sometimes leading share-outs of market, competitive, and Kendo business performance.
- Conducting detailed analysis at the category and product levels to understand trends and identify potential whitespace
- Measuring effectiveness of marketing and promotional activations
- Building new tools that allow us to track market insights and compare our business to a variety of benchmarks
- May assist in leading periodic learning & development workshops
- Much of the role will involve collaborating with cross-functional partners on a wide variety of ad hoc projects. These could include analytics related to pricing, store performance, product launch analytics, and digital KPIs (among many others)
- May occasionally partner with the Analytics VP on special projects pertaining to broader business issues
- Managing and contributing to the development of a senior analytics manager
REQUIREMENTS
- 10 years experience in business, finance, or analytical-related field.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze complex data and transform it into clear and meaningful insights with a focus on the 'why'
- Creativity as it applies to storytelling and flexibility to tailor your messages for different audiences
- Skilled with data visualization techniques. Advanced PowerPoint skills are a must. Experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar applications a plus
- Very high level of business acumen and intellectual curiosity. Comfortable taking initiative to create and test your own hypotheses
- Ability to communicate in a clear and concise manner (both verbal and written) and comfortable presenting to senior leadership
- Passionate about the beauty industry
- BS degree in Business, Finance, or related field
- Ability to connect with and build constructive relationships with diverse cross-functional partners
- Willingness to contribute positively to our unique culture
- Ability to adapt in real time to match the shifting demands of different situations
- Experience leading and managing others
