We are a dynamic Information Technology services company requiring a full-time Business Development Director to grow our state and local government practice. This is a salaried position plus commission with earnings potential over $200k, first year non-recoverable draw, healthcare and other benefits. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Conduct comprehensive market research to identify potential clients and opportunities.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, colleagues, and stakeholders.
- Negotiate and close agreements to maximize revenue and profitability.
- Collaborate with marketing, sales and internal teams to develop and implement sales strategies.
- Monitor market trends including competitors, market conditions, industry trends and government regulation and budgetary topics to adjust sales strategies as needed.
- Track and report on business development activities, pipeline status, and sales performance.
- Attend industry conferences, trade shows, and networking events to promote the company's capabilities and establish strategic partnerships.
- Recommend ways to improve operational planning, assessing business risks and service delivery.
- Perform all activities of sales lifecycle to include prospecting, qualification, needs assessment, proposals, addressing objections, and negotiating and finalizing award.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing inquiries, providing solutions, and ensuring client satisfaction.
- Eight years or more of previous experience in sales with a minimum of 5 years in state government.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, computer science or related field.
- Experience with managing and growing a $15,000,000 book of business.
- Experience of independently closing individual accounts with revenues of over $5,000,000.
- Experience with consultative selling of technology professional services.
- Experience delivering and negotiating proposals as well as successfully closing deals.
- Excellent understanding of the state government procurement activities.
- Willingness and ability to travel to client/prospect meetings, events, etc. throughout the region.
- Proven track record of winning government contracts and/or business to business (B2B) solutions.
- Strong networking and relationship-building abilities.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in CRM software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Self-motivated and goal oriented.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
