POSITION SUMMARY:
The Director, Chaplain Services oversees all aspects of the Chaplain Services Department. The Director strategically manages the department to ensure all initiatives align with the overarching Friendship Village goals. The Director is responsible for providing, scheduling, or arranging for chaplain services to meet the spiritual needs of residents, patients, family members, and FV employees consistent with their beliefs and desires. The Director’s role is to fulfill the vision of the department, which is to touch the life of every resident and staff member with the transforming power of God’s love as we follow Jesus Christ and serve others.
MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Performs those administrative activities necessary for the effective management of the facility, including provision for the selection and development of employees, salary and budget administration, employee counseling and motivation, disciplinary action, organization of goals and objectives, and planning, organizing, integrating and measuring the work performed within the department.
· Delegate responsibilities to staff with clear expectations
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:
· Reports to: Executive Director of assigned community
· Supervises: Chaplain Services Staff
· Supports: Friendship Village Communities
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- B.A., M.A., or M.Div. (or proven ministry experience) and denominational ordination.
- Trained or experienced in common spiritual issues in death and dying, belief systems of comparative religions related to death and dying.
- Spiritual assessment skills, individualizing care to patient beliefs or spiritual practices/rituals.
