This position works at the strategic level for optimizing and streamlining processes and defining database platform design and strategy roadmaps
The position also oversees enterprise projects from the initiation phase through production readiness.What You Get To Do:Creates and maintains strategy and forward-looking data product execution plans for enterprise operational data platformDevelop and maintain data platform roadmaps that is aligned with meeting enterprise vision and goalWorks in partnership with technical experts, business analysts, and developers from strategic partners (internal and external) to design and guide new IT solutionsManages data architects, data modelers, database engineers and enterprise architectsManages and leads subordinates in the management and administration of data platformAligns and collaborates closely with internal departments and external strategic partnerships to direct multiple initiativesProvides technical guidance that strikes a balance with the need to deliver on a deadline and still meet long-term strategic objectivesMonitors and directs all database engineering functions to demonstrate solution design meets standard architecture considerations and approvals to include: (1) standard database structures, (2) industry standards, (3) common components and reusable programs (4) security and performance levels, (5) system interfaces and dependenciesChampions for ways to automate and improve current processes/solutions within the database engineering areaLead the assessment of current systems, evaluate solutions in the marketplace, creates technical vision/roadmap for implementing state of the art systems and get buy-in from senior leadership to executeLeads and provides direction in build/buy decisions with regards to enterprise data platformCreates and implements action plans to mitigate risks and resolve issues, working with representatives from stakeholders across the companyManages conflicting priorities and multiple projects effectivelyProvides day-to-day management and supervision for data engineering team by directing and coordinating activities consistent with established goals, objectives, and policiesProvides hands-on design guidance and documentation as neededMentors team members from both a technical and professional career enhancement perspective by offering constructive feedbackDevelops and maintains solid working relationships with employees and management in cross-functional areasKeeps up to date with emerging IT trends and technologies and the industry’s best practices Supervisory Responsibilities Manages and provides direction to staff in the data platform area
Responsible for establishing the overall design and data strategy for the enterprise
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
Supervisory responsibilities include:Interviewing, hiring, training, mentoring, and coaching employeesPlanning, assigning, and distributing work for maximum efficiencyConducting performance review and providing appropriate and timely feedbackAddressing conflicts in a professional and ethical mannerSupports and enforces company policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner, taking corrective action whenever necessaryClient ResponsibilitiesThis is an internal and external client facing position that requires excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills (listening/verbal/written)
