In this newly formed role as Director of Occupational Toxicology, you will provide robust, scientifically-sound hazard analysis, risk profiles, and risk mitigation strategies for novel therapeutics handled in our laboratory, scale-up, and manufacturing settings. Success in this role will require partnering with our EHS teams and key stakeholders across Regeneron to support the evolution of our occupational toxicology programs and business strategies.
This role is based at our Corporate Research HQ in Tarrytown, NY and is not open to remote assignments
As Director EHS, Occupational Toxicology, a typical day may include:
- Responsible for development and life cycle management of ADEs, OELs, and SDS documentation, including risk communication to all relevant stakeholders internally and externally for our proprietary molecules, potent compounds, marketed drugs, etc.
- Providing robust, scientifically-sound risk management processes to support health hazard assessment for employees handling of proprietary antibodies within the research laboratories
- Updating and revising Regeneron procedures and guidelines related to health hazard assessments.
- Revising and/or developing hazard banding or default methodologies for early stage project in lieu of established health-based exposure limits
- Leveraging expert technical advice in preparation of toxicology assessments in support of health hazard classification:
- Safety Data Sheets according to GHS and CLP, and Dangerous Goods
- Collaborating with industrial hygiene network, operations, and R&D teams as part of a comprehensive occupational hazard evaluation, controls, and risk assessment.
- Assures appropriate reporting of safety data to support health-protective limits:
- Collaborates with colleagues in IOPS and Regeneron EHS to ensure that proposed limits and exposure controls are health protective and able to implement
- Able to evaluate appropriate data and a defined corporate process to communicate and mitigate risk.
- Prepares and reviews reports, memos, SOPs and regulatory documents
- Establish and maintain collaborative partnerships with leaders to ensure alignment of program and emerging risks
This role may be for you if you have:
- High level of aptitude in applying sound scientific principles to synthesize scientific and regulatory literature for a broad audience.
- Ability to analyze and identify data/process gaps and propose weight of evidence based solutions and approaches.
- Experience working within the pharmaceutical / biotechnology industry, including exposure to manufacturing processes
- Ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel across a global, matrixed organization
- A proven ability to influence business process decisions across a variety of topics and audiences with differential subject matter expertise
- Excellent written and verbal communication, with strong presentation, facilitation and engagement skills
- Expertise within practices, procedures, and EHS concepts such as health and safety programs, hazard communication and laboratory safety.
To be considered for this position you must posses a PhD in Toxicology with 10+ years of relevant experience in Occupational Toxicology or equivalent life science subject areas. Experience in ADC discovery and/or development. Awareness of potent compounds in regard to distribution, uptake, metabolism and toxicology mechanisms, and how this contributes to risk assessments and risk mitigation. Thorough understanding of the development of pharmaceuticals, therapeutic research and biologics.

$176,900.00 - $294,800.00
