Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Executive Communications: Research and develop talking points, speeches, presentations, policy backgrounders, bylined articles, and other materials to support EEI's President, CEO, and other executives.
- Event Planning & Support: Collaborate with the SVP, officer team, and CME team to develop agendas, identify external speakers, and create scripts, talking points, and other materials for EEI's quarterly Board of Directors meetings, annual meeting, and other conferences.
- Thought Leadership: Research and identify external events and opportunities for EEI’s President, CEO, and other officers to enhance EEI's industry thought leadership.
- Membership Communications: Serve as lead writer for EEI membership reports and other member-facing materials, including dues and budget letters.
- Wall Street Address: Lead the development of EEI's annual address to Wall Street.
- Writing & Editing Support: Provide writing, copyediting, and proofreading assistance to other departments as needed.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in English, communications, political science, or a related field
- 8 – 10 years of applicable experience in communications, public relations, or journalism on Capitol Hill or in a trade association, PR agency, corporation, or government agency
- Prior experience supporting executive communications required
- Energy industry experience is desired but not required
- Excellent written and oral communications skills with the ability to synthesize complex issues and convey them clearly and conversationally.
- Proven ability to manage multiple overlapping assignments with minimal supervision
- Comfortable working with senior executives and member company officials
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team-oriented environment
- Willingness to travel occasionally
Compensation
The salary range for this position is set at $140,000 - $160,000 annually. Starting annual salary will be determined on individual qualifications. EEI also offers an annual performance incentive which is prorated for mid-year start dates. This incentive is between 5%-10% of annual base salary, based on performance.

Office Protocol
This is a hybrid position which requires the incumbent to reside in the District of Columbia metropolitan area and come into the office a minimum of three days each week with two of the mandatory days being Tuesday and Wednesday.
