This role will be based in our Urbandale, IA office. We offer a hybrid work schedule with 4 days in the office; and 1 day remote where it makes sense to do so.

Responsibilities:As a Finance Director, you will lead financial reporting and financial planning and analysis for two Berkley operating units. You will work directly with key business leadership to support achievement of financial objectives. We'll also trust you to have direct and indirect leadership of finance team members.
We'll count on you to:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual operating unit financial statements. Includes preparing, analyzing, reviewing, and presenting results
- Prepare annual financial plans, including premium, loss and expense planning. Identify opportunities for growth and expense management, working directly with operating unit staff and management
- Conduct financial modeling to determine the impact of potential scenarios and plans
- Prepare financial analyses and participate in special projects supporting operating units or corporate initiatives (accounting, systems, etc.)
- Provide direct and indirect leadership, development, and mentoring for finance department employees
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management
What you need to have:
- Bachelor's degree with emphasis in Business, Finance or Accounting; or ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Working knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Ability to be proactive, a self-starter with the ability to manage time effectively
- Strong communication skills to work effectively with internal and external business partners
- Regularly and consistently demonstrates commitment to company values and guiding principles
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
