The Academic and Student Affairs division of American Baptist College invites applications for the Director of Financial Aid. This is a full-time position beginning August 31, 2024. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities:
As the Director of Financial Aid, you play a critical role in the academic and student affairs operations by administering the financial aid program at American Baptist College while maintaining compliance with federal and state regulations and college policies and procedures. Reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Director of Financial Aid is responsible for all aspects of the student financial aid Title IV program, including evaluating the financial needs of students from a variety of resources and coordinate activities to achieve a strategic, student-centered approach to financial aid activities that support the college’s mission. Therefore duties include, but are not limited to the following essential and core job functions:
Essential Job Functions:
• Interprets and applies federal laws and regulations, college policies and regulations and state regulations relating to the disbursement of student financial aid funds.
• Counsels and advises current and prospective students regarding availability and qualifications for various types of financial aid.
• Assures the integrity of all student accounts data in compliance with all applicable state and federal laws, rules, and regulations; works closely with the Business Office regarding student accounts, disbursements and reconciliation.
• Trains designated financial aid staff or other college personnel as directed/as needed;
• Prepares required reports and respond to requests for information from federal, state and other agencies
• Review and process verification and estimated financial aid offers for students
• Maintain knowledge of federal (Title IV) and state regulations related to financial aid by participating in conferences, workshops, webinars and other FSA provided training.

Student Eligibility and Document Review:
• ISIR Import, Review and Processing status
• Resolve C-flags (Citizenship, SS, etc.) and other conflicting information
• Review Financial Aid History & Transfer Monitoring (NSLDS)
• Verification (Document Collection, Review and Update)
• Program Eligibility
Packaging and Awarding
• Run packaging process in CAMS to auto apply budgets and aid offers (Pell, SEOG and Direct Loans)
• Import/Export Pell and loan origination and disbursement records to COD
• Enrollment Status verification (Grade level and registration status)
• Review and update document completion for loan processing (EC, MPN, PLUS App, etc.)
Additional Functions:
• Oversee and Process Withdrawals/R2T4
• Oversee and Award/Reconcile Campus-based Aid
• Oversee and Award Institutional Scholarships
• Oversee, review and serve as FA Committee Supervisor for Satisfactory Academic Progress
• State Grants/Scholarships Awarding and Reconciliation
• Oversee and process Aid Adjustments and Cancellations
• Assist Registrar with NSLDS Enrollment Reporting as needed
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting or related field from an accredited college or university required; Master’s degree in related field preferred.
• Five years of financial aid functional management experience, including origination, disbursement and reconciliation, regulatory policies and best practices, and working with financial aid reporting systems preferred, with supervisory experience desired.
• Knowledge of trends and developments in financial aid and demonstrated commitment to higher education.
• EdExpress/COD/ CAMS experience desired.
• Proficiency in the use of USDOE aid processing systems (COD, NSLDS, G5)
• Proficiency in the use of research, statistical analysis and information technologies.
Skills:
• Ability to relate effectively with multiple constituencies.
• Exceptional interpersonal, teambuilding and problem-solving skills.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to deal effectively with a diverse student body.
