More than 300,000 businesses in 25 industries rely on GS1 US for trading-partner collaboration and for maximizing the cost effectiveness, speed, visibility, security, and sustainability of their business processes. Summary: This is a director-level role within the Standards function. This role is a crucial part of the GS1 US member journey, responsible for bridging industry requirements with standards-based solutions by leveraging technical expertise in the GS1 system.The consultant works closely with the internal business teams and industry-leading companies to understand their challenges and opportunities, develop necessary requirements to address those challenges and realize opportunities, and create standards-based solutions. They will partner with the deep technical domain expertise team within the organization to develop content, tools, and guidance that add value to membership and contribute to the achievement of organizational goals.This role plays a vital part in understanding customer needs, providing technical expertise, and ensuring that the solutions offered align with customer requirements. By combining their knowledge of the GS1 system of standards, technology, and customer service, they provide implementation support that drives the adoption and use of standards. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:•Technical Consultation: Provide consultation to internal and external stakeholders with respect to the application and use of GS1 Standards. This involves a broad understanding of the technical aspects of GS1 Standards and translating them into practical understanding and application for industry solutions.•Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with internal stakeholders, members, industry partners, and others to understand their needs, gather feedback, and ensure outcomes are aligned with requirements. This involves understanding the specific needs of each stakeholder and providing tailored advice and guidance.•Solution Development: Develop and support implementation of solutions that address the unique needs of industry sectors using GS1 Standards. This includes creating custom workflows, processes, and systems that leverage GS1 Standards to improve efficiency and effectiveness. •Industry Collaboration: Support industry collaboration to drive adoption and use of GS1 Standards with industry partners, including retailers, suppliers, and technology providers. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: •This position has people management responsibilities.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):•Intellectual Curiosity and Comfort with Ambiguity: A desire to learn more and find answers to the unknown, with a genuine interest in understanding the inner workings of various subjects. This is paired with the ability to operate effectively when the situation is unclear, complex or lacking complete information. •Technical Proficiency: A holistic and integrated understanding of the GS1 system and its applications. This includes knowledge of the full suite of identification, AIDC technologies, master, transactional and physical event data and how these elements function as a complimentary system.•Industry Knowledge: Broad understanding of the industries we serve, including the unique needs and challenges. This helps in developing solutions that are tailored to the industry’s requirements.•Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to analyze complex problems and develop effective solutions. This involves a combination of analytical thinking, creativity, and technical expertise.•Communication Skills: Good storytellers with strong verbal and written communication able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and extrapolate from industry requirements necessary standards/technical solutions advised by deep domain experts. •Customer Focus: Ability to elicit, clarify, and understand the customer’s requirements, develop solutions that meet these needs, and ensure that the customer is satisfied with the outcome.Education and/or Experience:•BS/BA degree or equivalent experience in retail, healthcare and/or food service supply chain management•Experience as a people manager•Experience implementing GS1 Standards•Experience in facilitating collaboration among various stakeholder types to define solutions to shared challenges and opportunitiesPreferred Qualifications:•Experience in food, general retail supply chain sectors•Experience as a sales engineer or solution designer
