Health Promotion at the University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for a Director, Health Promotion ! The position is responsible for campus-wide health promotion, wellness, and primary prevention education, services and programs. The role evaluates the effectiveness of its interventions; and counsels and provides health education recommendations to CU Boulder divisions and units.
Working in a team-oriented environment with the Assistant Vice Chancellor and members of the Health and Wellness (H&W) Services Leadership Team, the Director will create an environment that encourages creativity and innovation in responding to student and campus needs, promotes health equity, and advocates for health and wellness initiatives.
The position requires considerable skills and abilities to manage and lead people responsible for a broad range of programs and services. This position must demonstrate a personal demeanor that inspires excellence and collaboration within the H&W units and throughout the campus and community.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
Leadership & Administration
+ Develop and implement departmental strategic direction that is data-driven, innovative, and aligns with the strategic imperatives of the University and H&W Services Strategic Plan, specifically around health and wellness education, prevention, outreach, and recovery.
+ Supervise and provide leadership to the professional and para-professional staff within Health Promotion and the Collegiate Recovery Community. This includes determining departmental staffing, personnel and performance management, resource allocation, and financial management.
+ Support the implementation of the Okanagan Charter and collective impact work of the Well-being Collective in coordination with H&W leadership.
+ Advise the AVC and design strategies to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of H&W Services.
+ Manage all requests for reports, data, publications, and budgets and ensure CU Boulder is an active and engaged participant in local, regional, and national reporting and organizations.
Campus Representation & Strategic Partnerships
+ Represent H&W Services on campus-wide committees and working groups to meet the goals of the campus's strategic imperatives as they relate to students' academic and social success.
+ Create a strong sense of team and enduring spirit of collaboration and common purpose among the Health Promotion team, H&W Embedded Program Leadership team, H&W Leadership Team, and across the Division and campus.
+ Partner with Student Affairs Marketing and Communication to inform robust, effective, and evidence-based health education and public health campaigns.
+ Collaborate with advancement and the State of Colorado on alternative revenue options, including donors, grants, and sponsorships.
+ Oversee the planning and implementation of large-scale events to raise awareness of well-being on campus.
Assessment & Evaluation
+ Partner with H&W Services data team to coordinate student support services assessment and evaluation efforts by identifying, collecting, and analyzing appropriate data and developing key strategies and effective prevention and intervention programs to meet the needs of current and future students.
+ Partner with the Office of Assessment and Planning and the Office of Institutional Equity and Compliance on assessment initiatives that further student success, overseeing the preparation of departmental publications, statistical information, and annual reports.
+ Ensure compliance with all local, State, and Federal laws, codes, and regulations; and systems, campus, and departmental policies and procedures related to health topics.
+ Provide leadership and strategy for unit and campus-level accreditation activities that relate to H&W initiatives by sharing data and standard processes.
Professional Development
+ Stay abreast of current literature, ongoing trends, demographic changes, laws, and policies that impact the diverse student body.
+ Ensure staff have a professional development plan that incorporates and encourages public health standard processes and new programming models for student learning and development.
+ Participate in local, regional, and national organizations and serve as a leader where appropriate.
+ Supervise a team of 10 professional staff and 40-50 para-professional staff.
What You Should Know
+ This role will primarily work on campus with some hybrid opportunities available.
+ This position has an anticipated work schedule of Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. This role is not expected to work University recognized holidays and will not be on call at any time. Some nights and weekends may be required depending on department needs.

The salary range for this position is $100,600 - $113,175 annually.

+ Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Higher Education Administration or a related health and wellness field. Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.
+ Five years of successful experience in planning, developing and implementing complex strategic goals and program initiatives in health education and promotion, including at least three years of successful management of professional and/or para professional staff.
What You Will Need
+ In-depth knowledge and application of health promotion, behavior change, and population-based theories and models; including application of these theories and models in a wide range of health topics, including alcohol and other drugs, suicide prevention, stress and anxiety, illness prevention, sexual health, health equity, and physical health.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of the ACHA Standards of Practice for Health Promotion in Higher Education and an ability to conceptualize health promotion in the context of higher education.
+ Budget skills/fiscal management skills.
+ Demonstrated skills in developing and implementing environmental and policy change initiatives and strategies.
+ Quantitative and qualitative research skills.
+ Knowledge of collective impact practices.
+ Exercise exceptional critical thinking skills demonstrated by the ability to analyze information, evaluate results, and facilitate resolution of difficult challenges, including the ability to handle issues of complex and extreme political sensitivity and demonstrate balanced judgment and exceptional discretion.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
+ Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships within a highly diverse organization; team-oriented focus; and conflict resolution skills.
