This position is located in our Levittown, NY office.
The Director, Human Resources oversees the day-to-day operations of Human Resources and Payroll. This position manages the administration of the human resources policies, procedures and programs and carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: payroll, benefits, compensation, performance management, recruiting/staffing, employment practices and compliance, as well as employee relations and communications. The Director of Human Resources must have the ability to bring immediate credibility to the HR function through solid background, experience, communication style and professional qualifications.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Guides management and employee actions by researching, developing, writing, and updating policies, procedures, and guidelines.
- Administers wage and salary process to ensure externally competitive and internally equitable compensation.
- Maintains responsibility for compliance with federal and state legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
- Plans and conducts new hire orientation.
- Ensures payroll is completed accurately.
- Participates in conferences and educational opportunities.
- Participating in professional organizations.
- Oversees the hiring process for UNMB
- Manages the onboarding of new hires
- Manages terminations of employees, including but not limited to equipment return
- Advises management in appropriate resolution of employee relations issues.
- Manages Worker's Compensation claims.
- Assesses HR training needs any applies necessary programs to meet these needs.
- Develops and maintains required reports
- Maintains records for all employees.
- Directs the administration of benefit programs.
- Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the CEO, on personnel matters.
- Administers performance review program within the organization.
- Represents organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.
- Conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separation.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and or ability required.
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university; and five to seven years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to make decisions, exhibit sound and accurate judgement and make timely decisions
- Excellent communication skills required.
- Strict confidentiality of personal and financial data
- High degree of attention to detail, organization & time management
- Must be adept at delegating and overseeing tasks
- Strong working knowledge of employment law
- Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company
This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer
