Job Overview:
Virtus Healthcare Staffing is actively engaged in a search for a skilled and experienced Director of Med Surg/Telemetry to join our partner, a 120-bed acute-care medical center in California. This hospital is known for its comprehensive services, including the region's only Pediatric Emergency Services team for children 14 and under, staffed by board-certified Rady Children's emergency medicine physicians. Additionally, the facility provides the area's only OB/Emergency Department program, offering expectant mothers 24/7 on-site access to OB/GYN physician coverage.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage the daily operations of the Med Surg/Telemetry unit, ensuring high-quality patient care and compliance with clinical standards.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate departmental policies, procedures, and goals to align with the hospital's mission and vision.
- Lead and mentor a team of healthcare professionals, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
- Monitor staff performance and provide coaching, training, and development to enhance clinical skills and professional growth.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and quality improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Active BLS and ACLS certifications.
- A minimum of 4 years of supervisory experience in a Charge Nurse or Nursing Supervisor role, ideally in a Med Surg or Telemetry unit.
- Demonstrated leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.
- Strong knowledge of nursing practices, regulatory requirements, and quality improvement initiatives within an acute-care setting.
