Director Nursing PeriOp South - Childrens Hospital of Birmingham

Job Summary The PeriOp South Director of Nursing is a registered nurse with advanced education and training in the care of pediatric surgery patients. The individual is responsible for strategic, operational, financial, and human resource management of Perioperative Services at Children’s South to ensure safe, compassionate, cost-effective, direct and indirect, patient-family centered care in the pre/postoperative unit, operating room, post-anesthesia care unit, and by anesthesia services. The PeriOp South Director will be accountable for nurses, CRNAs, ORTs, PCTs and other perioperative staff members. The individual will work closely with the Surgical Services Division Director, Surgical Services Leadership Team, Children’s South PeriOp Medical Director, anesthesiologists, and surgeons. The PeriOp South Director will be accountable to the Surgical Services Division Director, VP Operations and COA Chief Nursing Officer. Education

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing required
• Master of Science in Nursing or related field required or must be achieved within 3 years of assuming role

Experience

• Minimum of 5 years perioperative nursing experience
• Minimum of 3 years leadership, supervisory, or managerial experience

Licensures, Certifications, and/or Registries

• Current/Active Alabama RN license
• National perioperative nursing, nursing leadership, or pediatric nursing certification (CNOR, CAPA, CPAN, NE-BC, NEA-BC, CENP, CNML, CPN, etc.) required or must be achieved within 2 years of assuming role
• BLS certification required
