Position Summary
The Director of Operations at Langham Logistics plays a critical role in advancing organizational goals related to operations, engineering, profitability, and customer satisfaction. By leading the operations and engineering functions, this role oversees processes and personnel to align with the company's strategic growth initiatives. Working closely with the President, the Director of Operations establishes annual benchmarks, including budgetary goals, and is responsible for implementing policies that ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance.
As a key member of the company's Director team, the Director of Operations is integral in setting departmental goals, career development for employees, and upholding Langham's core values in all areas of operations.
Key Responsibilities and Expected Outcomes
Operational Performance
- Establish annual goals for the Operations and Engineering departments to support company targets in revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
- Oversee budget compliance, including cost improvements in goods sold.
- Track and evaluate operational metrics across domestic, international, and freight management sectors.
- Ensure departmental compliance with ISO standards and proactively resolve service delivery issues.
Sales Department Collaboration
- Support the Customer Experience and Sales teams in customer acquisition efforts, RFP responses, and new client onboarding.
- Educate Customer Experience and Sales on operational capabilities to enhance customer solutions.
- Provide feedback to Customer Experience and Sales on recurring customer needs and operational challenges.
Leadership and Staff Development
- Guide Warehouse Managers and other departmental leaders, promoting industry knowledge and customer service excellence.
- Participate in recruiting, hiring, and career pathing for potential team members.
- Mentor employees for both current responsibilities and future growth.
Project and Financial Management
- Set warehouse-specific goals in alignment with company strategy.
- Oversee budget and manage distribution center operations, including transportation and capital projects.
- Lead warehouse expansions and system upgrades for improved logistics and customer satisfaction.
- Plan and manage multiple projects, vendor contracts, and service agreements to ensure project timelines and budget requirements are met.
Policy and Compliance
- Ensure the operations team is fully utilizing the Quality Management System.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to ensure standards are met.
- Ensure all associates are properly trained for their job function.
Team and Department Management
- Ensure Warehouse Supervisors meet productivity, safety, and quality objectives.
- Maintain adequate staffing levels for customer workflows and operational demands.
- Encourage a high standard of housekeeping within all warehouse facilities.
Corporate Representation
- Present a professional image and courteous service to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Promote Langham Logistics' reputation by fostering a respectful and positive work environment.
Knowledge and Skills
- Deep understanding of logistics, transportation, and warehouse management.
- Proficient analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Strong financial acumen and experience in budget management.

Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), with SAP knowledge preferred.
- Basic math proficiency.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's or Technical Degree in Logistics, Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 10 years in warehousing, logistics, and operations.
- Experience in managing distribution centers, warehouse management systems, and facility expansions.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Must be able to operate computers and office equipment effectively
- Position involves time in both warehouse and office settings.
