Responsibilities and Duties:
- Oversee all aspects of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
- Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds as needed
- Oversee cash, investment, and asset management
- Oversee financing strategies and activities, as well as banking relationships
- Develop and utilize forward-looking, predictive models and activity based financial analyses to provide insight into the organizations operations and business plans.
- Lead the annual budgeting process and collaborate with the department heads to develop accurate and realistic budgets.
- Monitor budget performance and prepare variance analyses and forecasts
- Coordinate the development and monitoring of budgets
- Participate in corporate policy development as a member of the senior management team
- Engage the finance committee of the board of directors to develop short, medium and long-term financial plans and projections
- Remain up to date on nonprofit audit best practices and state and federal law regarding nonprofit operations
- Ensure maintenance of appropriate internal controls and financial procedures
- Ensure timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting for federal and state funders, foundations, and The Arc of Southwest Georgia board of directors; oversee the preparation and communication of monthly and annual financial statements
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior management and the board of directors.
- Ensure legal and regulatory compliance regarding all financial functions.
- Oversees all financial audit processes.
- Coordinate and manage external audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of accounting principles and practices, including GAAPS and IFRS.
- Oversees the payroll process and reporting for state and federal compliance.
- Supervise and coordinate reconciliation with Individual finance.
- Manage, mentor and develop the accounting team to ensure high performance and professional growth.
- Serve as a business partner to the ED on the organizations financial, budgeting, and administrative processes.
- Bachelors degree in accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3-5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, IFRS and financial reporting standards.
- Experience with financial software (QuickBooks Online) and ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) systems; proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in multidisciplinary, diverse and dynamic team, demonstrated experience in financial management and accounting, ideally in the nonprofit sector
- Experience should include legal, audit, compliance, budget and resource development
- Proven effectiveness leading professionals in finance and accounting
- Technology savvy, with an ability to point to examples of having worked with IT staff to develop and implement new processes and systems that increased efficiency in a fast-moving environment
- Flexible and a self-starter; able to multitask while also being highly detail-oriented
- Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to The Arc of Southwest Georgia mission
- Strong Leadership and team management abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Schedule and Compensation:
- $60,000 - $70,000 a year
