About the Company:
My client is a rapidly growing service company that supports clients in multiple industries, such as healthcare, retail, government, construction, and more. They are currently seeking a Director of Accounts Receivable to lead and drive the strategic direction of our collections and cash application departments.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Expertise
- Manage Customer Payment Portals: Ensure thorough understanding and management of all customer payment processes and portals.
- Lien Processing Knowledge: Ensure full compliance with national lien requirements and handle lien processes effectively.
- Develop Payment Strategies: Identify and create strategies for handling national customers with multiple payment methods and requirements.
- Root Cause Analysis: Demonstrate strong analytical skills to pinpoint issues in the A/R process and implement effective solutions.
- Advanced Excel Proficiency: Use advanced Excel functions and data analysis tools to drive insights and improve processes.
- ERP System Management: Ensure proficiency in ERP systems and demonstrate how these systems support A/R operations and processes.
- Organizational Skills: Display strong organizational abilities, managing tasks and processes diligently.
Managerial Responsibilities
- Leadership Under Pressure: Exhibit leadership in a high-demand environment, maintaining composure and driving results, even in challenging circumstances.
- Effective Communication: Communicate clearly and professionally with internal teams, customers, third-party collection agencies, and senior leadership.
- Collection Strategy Development: Lead and execute overall strategies to enhance the efficiency and success of collections across the Accounts Receivable team.
- Day-to-Day Collections: Direct and manage day-to-day collections activities, developing and assigning workflows to team members.
- Escalated Collections Management: Handle collections for escalated or high-value accounts, including delinquent clients, legal cases, and bankrupt accounts.
- Key Metrics Development: Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate team performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Monthly Reporting: Prepare monthly reports on A/R results, aging balances, collections, and other KPIs for leadership.
- Process Development & Training: Create and document processes and training materials to support the development of the A/R team.
- Support Financial Close: Provide accurate and timely A/R-related data to support monthly and quarterly financial close processes.
- Goal Alignment: Develop goals that align with the company's broader business objectives and drive the A/R team to meet and exceed these goals.
- Team Management: Manage, mentor, and motivate both remote and on-site employees, delegating tasks effectively and driving performance in a deadline-driven environment.
- Customer Dispute Resolution: Take proactive steps to investigate and resolve customer disputes and inquiries, collaborating across internal departments and external contacts.
- Performance Management: Oversee all aspects of performance management, including hiring, training, evaluations, and recognition within the A/R department.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 7+ years of experience in billing and collections procedures, with a solid foundation in A/R operations.
- 2+ years of experience in a supervisory role.
- Proven experience with lien processing and national requirements.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and ERP systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams and manage escalated collections.
