Major purpose: Excellent Organization, Communication and presentation Skills. Knowledge of health care marketing and community resources, management of admissions process including VOB applications and third party reimbursement.

Title of Immediate Subordinates: Admissions Coordinator
Qualifications:
- Business Administration degree and/ or 3-5 years directly related health care experience.
- Can communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Must have excellent presentation and organization skills.
- Knowledge of closing a sales agreement.
- Ability to work with supervisors, co-workers and facility staff in performance of duties.
- Knowledge of state and federal regulations governing the admissions process with a nursing facility.
Working Conditions: Works in an appropriately lighted and ventilated environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Can move intermittently throughout the day, proper body mechanics required bending, stooping, turning, stretching, and reaching above shoulders are involved,
- Can cope with mental, emotional and physical stress of the position.
- Can see and hear, or use prosthetic's that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
- Must function independently, have flexibility, personnel integrity, and the ability to work effectively with residents, personnel, support agencies, and outside agencies.
- Must be in good health and display emotional stability.
- Can relate to and work with ill, disabled, elderly, emotionally upset, and at times hostile people within the facility.
- Must have finger, hand, leg and arm dexterity (one leg/foot prosthesis acceptable).
Primary Functions:
- Identify and develop potential referral sources.
- Increase referral sources.
- Maximize the census through effective marketing.
- Generate public relations and marketing opportunities.
- Receive incoming referrals from hospitals, community agencies and families.
- Note demographic and financial information on admission application.
- Arrange for medical information to be received, both initial nursing report and required written paper work.
- Follow-up on financial information so that source payment is clear and areas requiring further work (e.g., Verification of Benefits, MVP/ E-paces) are noted.
6. Coordinate Admissions meetings each day with appropriate team to speed up the process. 7. Without the Admissions/ Marketing Coordinator, speak and / or meet with families about specific admissions requirements and placement procedures.
- Before admissions.
- At time of admission:
A. Sign paperwork with families and residents. B. Include financial counseling, with medicaid guidelines in mind. C. Include making application for Medicaid when appropriate.
- After Admissions, additional financial counseling as needed.
- Follow through on all applications
8. Provide information on the census and projected admissions and discharges as requested by administration. 9. Supervise record keeping department. 10. Supervise the readmission process. 11. Attend administrative staff meetings. in-services, and appropriate professional meetings and workshops. 12. Provide supervision to the admissions/ marketing coordinator and assume the duties of the position upon absence. 13. Contact area hospitals, community agencies and groups to promote and maintain good working relationships. 14. Arrange and coordinate visits from area hospitals and agency staff. 15. Redirect applied income checks.
Expectations:
- Attend mandatory in-services held at the facility.
- Understand responsibility concerning infection control, safety, accident and fire prevention.
- Discuss any problems, needs or concerns that arise with Administrator.
- Understands and upholds the Residents' Bill of Rights and holds all resident information confidential.
