Job Description

The Director of Alternative Investments is responsible for leading and managing the alternative investments strategy of the organization. This role involves overseeing the research, selection, and management of alternative assets such as private equity, hedge funds, real estate, commodities, and venture capital.

Job Responsibilities:

•  Formulate and implement the alternative investments strategy aligned with the organization’s overall investment goals.
• Identify emerging trends and opportunities in the alternative investment landscape.
• Oversee the construction and management of the alternative investments portfolio.
• Monitor performance, analyze risk, and ensure alignment with investment objectives.
• Lead the due diligence process for new investments, including financial analysis, market research, and operational assessments.
• Build and maintain relationships with fund managers and alternative investment firms.
• Manage and mentor analysts and investment professionals.
• Foster a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and continuous improvement.
• Prepare and present regular performance reports to senior management and stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Conduct ongoing research on alternative investment products and strategies.
• Stay informed about market developments and economic factors affecting the alternative investment space.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including risk management, compliance, and operations teams.
• Engage with external partners, investors, and industry groups.
• Internal product marketing support for increased utilization.
• Work with advisors, handle cash flow forecasting and capital calls, and subject matter expert for technology platforms.
• Occasional travel for meetings and conferences.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, or a related field; CFA, MBA or advanced degree preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in investment management, with a focus on alternative investments.
• Must have strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in financial modeling and valuation techniques.
• Must have proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and inspire a team.
• Must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex investment concepts clearly.
• Must have strong network within the alternative investment community.
• Must have deep understanding of various alternative investment strategies and asset classes.
• Must have the ability to assess and manage investment risks effectively.
• Must have proficiency in investment management software and tools.
• Must have strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
