Job Description
The Director of Alumni and Donor Engagement is responsible for planning, implementing, and managing an institution-wide engagement strategy for the UIndy Alumni Association and donors to the University at all levels. The Director works collaboratively and proactively with the Alumni Board of Directors, all university departments and programs, and all advancement staff to raise the social capital of the University’s extended network of supporters and alumni. The Director will strategize and oversee the Office of Advancement stewardship and engagement activities, including events, communications, promotions, volunteer opportunities, and social media for the Alumni Association. The Director will be an integral part of developing a creative engagement strategy to maintain a strong connection between alumni/supporters and the University of Indianapolis.

Qualifications - Alumni and Donor Engagement-
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Office experience working with a small office team, proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Sheets, and Customer Relations Management Databases
- 2-5 years of experience in alumni/donor engagement and event management
Job Function - Alumni and Donor Engagement -
● Design and execute programs, communications, and events that help steward and
engage alumni, donors, and friends.
● Work with deans and academic leadership on engagement strategies for
colleges/schools including alumni awards, engagement events, advisory councils,
reunions, and anniversaries.
● Serve as a liaison between the office of advancement, academic departments, financial
aid, admissions, and accounting to ensure gifts are used appropriately and stewarded
accurately.
● Collaborate with various campus offices to track endowed fund usage and oversee the
endowed reporting process for donors.
● Lead the Alumni Board of Directors, ensuring their goals align with University strategies,
while managing their volunteer engagement efforts.
● Manage the alumni awards process with the Alumni Board of Directors, including
nominations, selection, recognition, and celebration.
● Promote participation among alumni and donors to all major University events,
especially Homecoming and reunions.
● Plan and coordinate details relative to select events, such as the Philanthropy Lunch,
and other donor recognition events and promotions presented by the Office of
Advancement.
● Develop and increase engagement efforts, with a special focus on young alumni.
● Draft and send all mass communication that comes from alumni engagement and the
office of advancement in a stewardship capacity in collaboration with the marketing and
communications department. This includes gift acknowledgements, endowment reports,
event invitations, giving society/group information, and other related tasks as developed.
● Manage volunteer engagement and collaborate with the Professional Edge Center and
departments to meet their needs for alumni volunteers as mentors, classroom
presenters, mock interview participants, panel speakers, and more.
● Maintain engaging and updated content on the Alumni Association social media
platforms, the alumni website, and the alumni section on MyUIndy and the UIndy app.
● Track the success of engagement efforts using CASE guidance for alumni engagement
metrics and internal metrics at the Office of Advancement.
● Use recorded data to manage, develop, and update processes to improve stewardship,
recognition, and overall engagement of alumni and donors.
● Other duties, including special projects, as required or assigned including some nights
and weekends.
