I. JOB OVERVIEW
Job Description Summary:
The Director of Alumni Engagement is a strategic leader responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive plan to cultivate lifelong engagement with alumni across all generations. This role will oversee the creation and implementation of targeted programs and initiatives that foster meaningful connections, strengthen alumni communities, and advance the University’s mission.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive alumni engagement strategy that aligns with the University’s overall goals. Oversee the creation and execution of targeted programs and initiatives tailored to the specific needs and interests of different alumni generations, including young alumni, mid-life, alumni caregivers & parents (sandwich generation), retired alumni, and alumni emeriti.
- Oversee the implementation of surveys and focus groups to gather insights from alumni of different generations, identifying their unique needs and preferences. Utilize the data to design and implement innovative alumni programs and supporting marketing strategies that meet the needs of alumni based on their generation.
- Collaborate with the Directors of Engagement for Industry Networks, Regional Programs, and Shared Identity & Interests, as well as campus partners to ensure alignment of alumni engagement efforts with broader institutional goals.
- Establish and oversee alumni councils representing various generations, providing a platform for alumni to contribute to the University’s mission and goals. Foster strong alumni communities through events, social media, and other platforms, facilitating meaningful connections and collaboration among alumni.
- Oversee the reimagined Lifelong Learning program, which will provide alumni with opportunities for continuous intellectual enrichment, and personal growth. This includes developing and delivering a diverse range of educational programs; partnering with faculty to offer high-quality learning experiences, and leveraging technology to create innovative and accessible learning opportunities.
- Manage a team dedicated to engaging young alumni, including developing and implementing programs and initiatives tailored to their unique needs and interests.
- Manage an engagement portfolio of leadership volunteers, cultivating their involvement, soliciting their annual gifts, and advancing them along the major gift pipeline when appropriate.
- Leverage data analytics to measure the effectiveness of alumni engagement programs and initiatives, identifying areas for improvement and optimizing resource allocation.

Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization plus 7 years of relevant professional experience, or, a Master’s degree or higher in a relevant area of study plus 5 years of relevant professional experience. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

- Professional experience in a higher education setting, including experience in advancement, volunteer management, human resources development or a related field such as communications, marketing, or public relations preferred.
- Established flexibility and initiative; the ability to work independently, as well as thrive in a team environment to achieve institutional goals.
- Experience with strategic planning, project management and interoffice collaboration is a plus.
- Demonstrated strong writing, planning, and organizational skills.
- Flexibility to work occasional evening and weekend events as needed.
Hiring Range
$72,235.20 - $119,100.82GW Staff Approach to Pay
