Quinlan Partners is a global due diligence, investigations, and business intelligence firm that helps clients identify and mitigate risk, shape strategy, and achieve success. We are seeking an inquisitive, highly motivated Director of Business Development to join our team to assist in the development and growth of client relationships across all practice areas. The Business Development Director role requires a dogged work ethic, persistence to follow-up on leads, and the ability to communicate the value proposition of investigative or consulting services, including business intelligence, due diligence, dispute and litigation support, and internal investigations.
The Business Development Director will join a team of seasoned corporate investigators, former investigative journalists and attorneys, and contribute to a rapidly growing firm whose excellence and expertise at conducting deep-dive research and uncovering critical information and evidence has garnered the stability, loyalty and trust of clients at top global law firms, corporations, investment firms and NGOs.
This is a full-time salary + performance-based incentives position with benefits. Hybrid work arrangement (in-office + remote). NY local candidates are preferred.
What You Will Do:

Prospect and develop qualified leads and collaborate with partners and investigative staff to scope and deliver services, to include:

Identify, present and seek partner approval on potential new-business targets;

Quarterback the sales and discovery process for relationships developed and assist in early-stage management of these relationships to eventual handoff, when appropriate;

Identify, research, and monitor targets and their business activities to support the development of relationships and potential opportunities across all practice areas; direct analysts to do the same, using downtime as a resource;

Organize activities from follow-up to closure with partners and staff; monitor and report on pipeline activities; and

Partner with the teams responsible for ensuring work gets done and quality is high.

Collaborate closely with practitioners to develop a deep understanding of all practices, services, differentiators, issues, and potential opportunities that arise from across the team and seek out ways to expand our services and verticals;

Mentor and coach others who are involved or would like to be involved in business development, including through management of the process of new business development;

Work closely with firm’s marketing professionals and principals to further enhance and amplify the firm’s brand, including by helping direct marketing spend (conferences, travel, sponsorships etc.) and advising on the firm’s website, marketing materials, external publications, thought leadership, etc.

Design, implement, manage, and use CRM to measure, track, and ensure appropriate follow-through and activity around clients and prospects.
What You Bring:

Bachelor’s degree required. Post-graduate degree in business, marketing or related field preferred.

5-10 years of applicable professional sales or business development experience in the professional services industry.

Proven track record of success at selling professional services into financial services, law firms, investor clients, and/or corporations.

Deep familiarity with professional service sales and business development processes, technology (such as CRMs), and management

Hunter-mentality; ability to follow-up on leads and proactively identify new areas of opportunity.

Outstanding ability to expand and deepen existing client relationships.

Experience partnering with practitioners and other subject matter experts to promote services.

Possessing an established network of relevant contacts and clients is a big plus.

Outstanding communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills; ability to work with all levels of an organization.

Excellent time management, attention to detail, and multi-tasking skills.

Proficient in the MS Office suite, Google suite, and CRMs.

Compensation Range: $125,000 - $250,000
