Overview:The Director of Conference Sales & Events is primarily responsible for overseeing all aspects of conference business from sales to event delivery and services, including directing, managing, supervising and coordinating the activities and operations of Event Services functions assuring the highest quality service program to assure rebooking of events.
This role will pay a salary of $90,000 and is bonus eligible.

Responsibilities:
- Oversee event management activities for all conference events
- Direct, coordinate and oversee the activities of employees engaged in providing event coordination, technical support, audio-visual services, food & beverage, event security, exhibitor services and overall client satisfaction during events
- Consult with exhibit managers, promoters, convention representatives, and others concerning physical set-up needs and requirements for licensed areas; prepare work orders and cost-estimates accordingly
- Inspect facilities to ensure they are being maintained properly for events
- Ensure accuracy in computing of costs for post-event billing of services and equipment rental charges
- Review and approve final billing to facility users prior to settlement or release of invoice
- Demonstrate continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
- Conduct planning and operational meetings as required to ensure smooth coordination of event activities
- Assume management responsibility for all services and activities of the Conference & Banquet Sales Department within the facility including sales tools and materials, proposals, sales calls and contracts.
- Oversee the Sales Manager.
- Work with Sales Manager to respond to booking inquiries with information regarding availability, venue services and pricing.
- Establish relationships with clients to ensure their needs are met for all aspects of events including food, beverage, room set-up and audio visual.
- Coordinate and conduct venue tours and site visits.
- Work with Director of F&B and Executive Chef on all aspects of F&B events, i.e., menus for potential clients, service styles, staffing, etc.
- Formulate event financial estimates.
- Prepare and issue contractual agreements and collect deposits.
- Communicate all menu and event details for each event clearly to F&B teams.
- Foster coordinated sales efforts with other members of the city’s hospitality industry
- Track and manage weekly and monthly sales reports. Forecast net revenue from future events.
- Enter and maintain complete and accurate information into the EventBookings calendar.
- Attend industry events and tradeshows as may be required.
- Manage and participate in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities of all event related programs and activities
- Work with other department directors in a variety of tasks
- Serve as Event Manager
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 to 7 years of increasingly responsible experience in event management in an arena, stadium, convention center or other multi-purpose public assembly facility
- Supervisory experience required
- Bachelor’s degree or better from an accredited college or university
- Graduate of IAAM Public Assembly Facility Management School preferred
- Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid CPR certificate
- Possession of, or ability to obtain a valid state driver’s license
- Knowledge of customer service practices
- Knowledge of crowd control
- Ability to prepare, track, control and analyze budgets
